Protoss has a lot of AOE damage and often can get away with simple attack-move, that's true. At the same time, Protoss is notably weaker in harassing the opponent as the only fast unit he has is a Phoenix (quite ineffective after the opponent gets any passive AA) and Warp Prism is less cost-effective than Overlord and Medivac (and, again, requires specific tech tree, while Overlord is used in every game and Medivac is used in most games, especially in TvP). Protoss is more solid race than others: it's harder to crush and, at the same time, it's easier to avoid being crushed by him since Protoss units, except for Colossus (and Tempest, lol), have quite a low range and are easier to snipe from the high ground.
Actually, you may be surprised, but on Blizzard forums new players don't rage about Protoss being OP too much. There are much more posts like these, "Banshee harass! How to counter?", "Massed Siege Tanks! What to do?", "Help! I keep missing Medivac Drops!", "Mutalisk rush is unstoppable!". In fact, Mutalisks is the biggest problem of newer players, as opposed to Protoss deathball. Mutalisks and Medivac Drops. Protoss has Cannon Rush and DT though, but they are easier to play against than Mutas, even for newcomers.
