Mists of Pandaria - Blizzcon 2011 Recap
Blizzcon has been really exciting this year and Blizzard definitely had a lot of things to show us! It's time for a giant recap of all the panels, we will probably have a lot more content over the next few days but this should keep you busy for the moment!

We also added details from the interview appearing on the web, we'll probably see a lot more of those soon.

Blizzcon Interview Details
A few interviews of Blizzard staff have popped up so far, the interesting parts are below. We are likely to see more early next week. (via venturebeat, gaming-insight)

  • You might be able to use Valor Points to increase the item level of your items slightly.
  • Blizzard might move your Resource bars closer to the center of the screen, similar to how many custom UIs are set up. It will start with Monks, then maybe Paladins and Death Knights.
  • The game will almost always be sold with Burning Crusade in the future to cut down on the number of games you have to buy.
  • If WoW was ever on the decline to where subscriptions were not high enough to support the game, they would consider the freemium model.

To be honest - This would've been best if they actually implented in BC expansion cause back then Kung Fu panda was around the corner and was reaaaaaally hyped, today - it's boring , dull, and just too childish.Lately this game has been moving forward for the smaller kids, more and more - Blood elfs, Spacecows, Worgens and last goblins.. Now pandas!? They are saying it takes TO MUCH CASH, to develop dance studios, upgrade graphics, update models of the current races.. They are bringing in around 230 million dollar each month in subscription fee's , AND IT COSTS TO MUCH MONEY, and ofcourse - TIME.. as they said, time aint the problem - it's how they are currently managing the game...Cause it sure must cost alot of money to reuse old content , Naxx, Onyxia, SFK, Zul'Gurub, Zul'aman, Ragnaros, Nefarian, etc etc.. it's just an lame excuse for squeezing out as much cash as possible until they release Titan..Also they are restricting us from posting negative comments on the forum towards blizzard, the game and how it's currently bein managed - It's the new frikkin North Korea , but online.Cause bad comments, leads to other people seein the negative comments, people start to wonder oh yea this was bad etc etc. but now they are just hiding it - catering what they WANT us to play... I seriously dont see why 5 million subs should dissapear from WoW once MoP is released, cause the remaining 7 million sure must be people who put to much time into collecting mounts, pets, achievement points, and don't wanna get addicted to a new game when they can continue this same, rehashed game...I for one, won't be buying 12 months playtime for a ugly as looking mount, and a "free" copy of D3 + guaranteed Beta Invite....

The ONLY thing that is bugging me at the moment are the ..well (imo) silly names of some of the abilities. I love the chi aspect, but stance of the drunken ox ..and light/dark force? lol kinda silly on my own part but I think of Jackie Chan in Drunken Master being a character in Star Wars :P

I am wondering, as well, about how other races will look while doing these moves. I am going to roll a femme dwarf monk, but I am eager to see Draenei pump out some kick and roll action!

I personally won't be playing a Pandaren, I will end up making one to feel its playstyle and to check out the starting zones.. but I am eager to play beside one! I am one of those people all for new races, I would be extremely happy if they added two new races every expac(or in this case one)! I'm all up for diversity.. so playing with Panda bears, gnomes, humans, werewolves, spacegoats, purple elves, and other short fatties in a raid situation sounds like loads of fun!I also wonder what everyone would be using as their arguements if "Kung Fu Panda" never came out. Oh, and for the big question! I wonder what color they are going to give the Monk class! (and there is a forum post about it haha)
Personally, I love the names, sure Light and Dark Force could be changed to something less... Star Warsy... but everything else is cool!

Remember how utterly irritating the hunters monkey pet from STV was, all those screeches, yelps etc...? Good luck putting up with Pandas in bgs, instances & Raids. /shudder

It seems like the engineering of classes. The animations on a pandaren look equally as retarded and silly. Honestly, it's a fat pandabear spinning around and killing things. I would laugh if I died in pvp by a Panda. Blizzard needs to make this race look fierce, and reconsider the stupid ass names they gave the abilities.
Exactly my thoughts! I mean, c'mon 'Drunken'? This whole expansion looks like a joke.

Once again, people WANT to see other stuff in Blizzards stuff. In Tier sets they see Spiderman and Batman and here they see Kung Fu Panda. Good news everyone, if Im not mistaken, the pandaren were introduced into Warcraft before KungFuPanda hit the cinemas. Of course there are similarities, but cmon the movie was *sunglasses* awesome.

I think the opposite, we will have the best animations and coolness only with the Pandaren race.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drunken_Monkey Hurf durf, 'drunken' stance totally isn't a reference to an actual martial art style.

I haven't really played WoW since Ulduar days (I've been back for a month or two at a time), and I usually love to jump on the Blizzard is "retarded" bandwagon, but I just can't do it this time.Sure, some of this stuff looks kind of kiddy, but all of it looks fairly interesting, to me at least. I have no issue with the Pandas, they've been in the game before, and they look fun as hell. Back in 2004/2005 when we were clearing Stratholme live side, we've always asked Blizzard for a Monk class, and here they are finally delivering it.It may look stupid to a lot of people, but to me it looks like fun. I'm actually sort of excited for this expansion. While I'm probably not going to return 100% with the info they've given right now, by time it releases it should have my full attention. In short: If you're crying about Pandas or Monks then boo hoo. It's a game, and the zones from Mists of Pandaria look awesome with nice ambience. The Pandas look kind of silly but no one forces you to play one.Have fun boycotting a video game, I'm sure you could put that on your bucket list.

My only doubt about this exp is that brewmaster is a tank, hope atleast dps monks will have some of the wc3 skills, or else im gonna be one sad panda. Now give them Storm, Earth and Fire as lvl90 skill and im in !

Probably because the Pandarians look so bad. They just look too silly. Sorry, I doubt very seriously I would feel threatened by one. They need to be much more aggressive looking as they appear to be fat slobs... so instead of Thundercats HO! we can have Pedobears OH!

You can take in 230 BILLION dollars each month, but if your operating costs are 229,999,999,999 per month, then you have profits of ONE dollar. Do you know how much it takes to pay employee salaries, operating costs at the Blizzard campus, server maintenance, R&D, and pay for all the tech needed to make games/features? If you do, please tell us all so we can be as informed as you. If not, then don't make judgement calls on what a company can and cannot afford. Secondly, as has been noted many times, Pandaren have been in the Warcraft universe far longer than Kung Fu Panda has been in theaters.

Also, I don't get this whole panda=cute business. Sure, the videos you see on-line of pandas doing adorable shit are cool and all, but a panda in the wild is not something you want to mess with. Judging by the models and previews shown, there is very little cute about the Pandaren outside them standing around aimlessly in a kimono.

Moving on to the whole recycled content...only Naxx and Zul'aman were actually reused, every other item on your list only shares a likeness in name with its previous incarnation. You can also post negative comments about Blizzard on their forums...as long as you actually know how to form sentences and paragraphs and aren't just spouting off hate speech with no cohesive thought process.

I agree with one thing you wrote though, but I doubt you actually meant to write it that way: I don't see why 5 million people would unsub for MoP, I really don't. I've tried getting addicted to other games, I really have, but all other MMOs just end up trying too hard to be a prettier WoW and they flounder worse than...a flounder. Anyway, since I planned on playing for 12 months anyway, I do enjoy the fact that Blizzard is giving me something in return.
