World of Warcraft Q&A

  • They aren't considering Gnome Druids, Shaman, or Paladins at this time.
  • Balancing PvP is hard, but they have a lot of knobs to turn now and are ready to make quicker and more reactive changes to balance. They also have to consider how interesting specific PvP talents are.
  • Med'an being Guardian of Tirisfal is not canon.
  • They are mainly using Artifact Knowledge as a mechanic to help level up your off-spec weapons.
  • Stranglethorn Fishing Tournament is aiming to be back in Patch 7.1.5. They were aiming for it to be back in Patch 7.1 as well until two weeks ago, though. The problem with the Fishing Tournament is CRZ, so they're looking to make it a region-wide contest instead of based on the server or CRZ. This makes server population matter less.
  • Wrathion is still wandering Azeroth for now, but we'll see more of him in a future content update.
  • They're definitely looking at making things easier for alts, including artifact knowledge catch-up mechanics and reputation changes. They've already changed some of the things gated behind reputation, like Arcway and Court of Stars access, to be account-wide.
  • Can't give a definitive yes or no on when/if other races will get graphical updates for their base mounts, like the Tauren Kodos did in Legion.
  • There's no range on Holy magic being drawn from the Sunwell.
  • They're looking into making the WoW Token be able to be used for other services as well like Character Transfer, Faction Change, or Battle.net Balance.
  • They probably aren't going to update art graphics on older armor sets. They like to err on the side of using old content to inspire new content so that they don't upset people by changing things they've had for years.
  • They are looking at increasing backpack slots, as it wasn't as challenging as they thought it was going to be, but they are worried about what question people will ask every panel instead of increased backpack slots.
  • The raid armor you're getting from the Tomb of Sargeras is very heavily inspired by the Tier 6 sets from Black Temple.
  • They aren't sure about making Gathering professions not count for Profession slots, but it is something that comes up a lot, even internally, so it is possible.
  • Artifacts are just for Legion, but players who've played through Legion will be able to unlock Artifact appearances as permanent transmog for any weapon.
  • They're looking towards letting players target legendaries better, which will help with concerns of loot specialization controlling legendary drops' specialization.
  • They'll make Artifacts going away make sense.
  • They plan out character arcs very far in advance sometimes. Sometimes the end isn't completely clear, but they know the general journey (like Garrosh). In other cases, like with Wrathion, they had no idea where he was going to go at first.
  • Class accessories were put on pause to focus on Artifacts. They are going to look back and see if there is still a clear role for them now.
  • There are different groups of Naga with different motivations, just like Humans. In Azsuna, they are working under Queen Azshara, who is interested in the Tidestone of Golganneth for a reason unknown to players.
  • The shortfall of the Withered Army Training ("Withered Pikmin") was that tank players had too easy of a time. They definitely do like solo gameplay like that.
  • There are definitely a few secrets left in the current Live game but nothing huge like Kosumoth-level. They are aware that a couple of the hidden appearance unlocks were done poorly and have learned lessons for the future.
  • Ysera is dead, but her spirit lives on. This may have implications for the future.
  • They're wary of doing guild housing because it detracts from the other areas where players group up. The second challenge is customization being meaningful.
  • There's more to Vol'jin's story... in time.
  • They're still working on new weapon animations for ranged combat.
  • Three words on the future of pet battle content: "Pet Battle Dungeon".
  • They don't want changing talents to feel mandatory in every situation, which is part of the reason for the restriction on where and when you can change them. They've made some concessions and conveniences where you can swap freely for a grace period after accepting a queue, since you may want a different build for solo questing. Having no penalty to changing talents lets you always pick the best thing for every situation.
  • They don't think there is a need for anything above Titanforged for items.
  • Cross-faction cooperative questions come up a lot, but they think faction identity is critical to World of Warcraft. They're not happy about two people are barred from playing together by faction, but they feel factions are too critical to bypass.
  • We'll look into getting a little more history and backstory on Khadgar's personal life.
  • No plans right now for letting engineers craft submarines, but they like the idea.
  • Undead can be Priests but not Paladins because Priests use the Holy Light for the preservation of life. Paladins mainly use it offensively... but sometimes for the preservation of life... we'll talk about it!
  • They're going to make Holidays more level agnostic at some point in the future. They shouldn't be max-level only experiences.
  • Mythic raiding not being cross-realm is one of the few remaining bastions of server-specific identity.

    - Hah, it could hardly be worse than what they added already in the last expansion.

    - UGH,.. as long as it's not pink again (rogue),....
The guild housing issue sounded like it was due more to the question of who would make the decisions to affect the guild house etc. I do hope it isn't pink again either lol.

What's a question you have that should be answered instead?

Well, I'm guessing you're gonna laugh at me. I know that class and balance questions weren't allowed, but I wish they'd answer exactly that. Like others have said, it'd most likely cause a serious stir.

Here's the answer you would have gotten: "We want to balance the game to everyone's satisfaction. This sometime takes longer than some people would like this to take and we apologize for that. UPcoming patches will contain measures to fix current balancing issues. "

Now guess how many people on here would call your question a lame question.

Undeads can be priests but they cant be paladins because paladins are using holy powers offensively to cleanse undeath... priests dont do that.
So basically if an undead paladin tried to use paladin's anti-undead abilities they would probably just kill themselves aswell.

Thats how i would explain it. :P
Also if a paladin dies they become holy light, as seen in that ICC quest (they will probably end up fighting in the army of light)... but i havent really heard the same about priests.
Essentially you cant be paladin and undead because you would have to die and be reincarnated to be one.

    Uh, yes, they do.

That's beside the fact the game has a lot of Undead guys throwing Holy spells at you. You haven't seen Alonsus Faol spontaneously combust in Holy power, have you?

People want Jesse Cox over Panser?

Isn't Jesse the one who asked that Warcraft movie actress what it was like knowing nerds were going to jack off to her character?

It's not a lame question -- it's a lame half assed answer that I agree with you that they'd say.

Truth is: They are complete shit and pants-on-head stupid when it comes to communication intentions of specs / classes.

Because of their failure -- people are lacking knowledge in areas. This makes defining balance hard when you're not sure what is a baseline knowledge since they refuse to create a baseline.

To elaborate: Do you use Noxxic or Icy Veins?

At this point Noxxic is considered, by many, to be very bad but how are you supposed to know that? If you follow a bad guide and feel underpowered -- how are you to know this is "wrong" or "bad".

Let's make it even more fun: There are actually "wrong" choices for talents. By wrong I mean "under performs in every single possible way.

So not only are they shit at answering balance questions -- they can't even say "here's the minimal you should be at".

    ¸

I have just look at my spec. One only tell me to "take those", the other one is explaining me each talent if they are good or bad. Easy to guess which one I follow.

The next step would be a talent by talent simulation result but I guess I can do this myself if I need too.

Also, looking at the talent, you can guess if a talent is either AOE/single target, passive/active, hard to manage/ease your rotation and if you put some taught in your class, you can guess which one worth it or not.

With that in mind, each talent cannot give the same output. Either all the talent in a row are need to be pretty much the same in those 3 categories (increase your dps by 10% via spell X, increase your dps by 10% via spell Y or increase your dps by 10% via spell Z) or some need to give out more number (passive/easy should give less then active/hard talent).

There are many things in the game that go against the lore to make the gameplay more appealling. So its pointless to bring in facts about the gameplay.

But one instance doesnt make evil become evil or good become good, catch my point?

So in general sense there hasnt been much of action from priests against undead... where as the entire purpose of paladins is to fight undeath.
Where was the last time you saw a priest npc in a major situation? like Tirion has been pretty central in many occasions already... ICC, Legion...
I only remember Benedict being revealed as a dreadlord a few expansions ago.

Normal people, people who'd prefer WoW players didn't come across as disgusting basement dwelling stereotypes, people with an ounce of empathy...

I'd take a girl who enjoys the game over a guy who told a woman to her face that she was masturbation-worthy any day.

Nah, just gonna bask in the fact that some people are so threatened by female gamers that they get offended at this year's host in place of a stereotype.

Comparing the Artifacts to the gear from raids isn't a good thing. You have to put much less effort to obtain a gear-piece compared to maximizing your artifact. In a (very) fortunate situation you can get your BiS gear by playing just a few hours. And it's natural that you change it, when the new expansion come. But you can't max out your Artifact as easily as you can obtain gear.

But okay, a simple iLVL 1500 "Demonbitten Warmace" without any extra funciton probably will be much COOLER than the Doomhammer (what you leveled for months).
I can only imagine that the Artefact weapons are needed to contain or destoy the legion and will be locked away or destroyed in the process.

So like, obviously Vol'jin will be resurrected as Zombie Vol'Jin by Lich Queen Syvlanas, right?
