The new super boss of WoW; Ordos, is going to be a momumental challenge for the most elite of hardcore raids groups to take down. As the Oondasta of patch 5.4, this world boss not only has an aresnal of downright nasty attacks, and a hard enrage timer of 5 minutes, but also can only be accessed after all players in the raid have achieved attunment through obtaing one of the legendary cloaks through the Wrathion epic-arc on any of their account characters first (in other words, it can only be fought after the adventurers get the cloak at the climax of the MoP storyline). Said boss is encountered on Timeless Isle, the new open-world sandbox zone to be added along with the SoO update.
Some solid facts about Ordos:
1. Raids will be few and far between because of the strict entry requirement, as well as the fact that because Timeless Isle is filled with hard elite mobs and is PvP intensive, getting to him is even more difficult. (interestingly though, fellow players are allowed to help kill you during this fight through the use of this).
2. With his enormous tank, highly regenerative healing, and absolutely devastating abilities, very few challengers will be able to live long enough to bring him down before his soul-crushing wipe takes place.
3. Boss is strictly designed for max-level, elite raiding guilds with toons equipped with the best gear available (meaning several runs through the SoO raid on 25m Heroic for ultimate gear ups, enchanting rings for maxing out stats, etc). Boss can't be used to gear up lower level toons.
Other than fighting this outrageously, insanely uber-powerful boss after spending hundreds of hours of work just to get to him and have gear to survive with, what's the point? As it turns out, this boss drops unique, named gear that is almost as powerful as the 25m Heroic SoO gear, (so basically a bunch of collector's items). At first, this seems pointless, but upon closer examination reveals that the item's secondary stats such as crticial strike and master have been switched. So if your willing to sacrifice about 100-200 armor points for a boost in the stats that are most helpful for you, you may want to look into that.
So all in all, it looks like were going to see more server lag again as huge raid parties battle it out at the summit of Timeless isle, only to die because a bunch of griefers use the Censor of Agony to turn upon their healers and kill them; or because those huge groups of raiders didn't know how to organize their specs correctly.
So what's you opinion on Ordos? Is he to ridiculously powerful? A purposeless fight? A new way of measuring a guild's skill level?
