Actually, again, why not just let Metz host? he's the most enthusiastic guy in the room about 90% of the time, let him hype everyone up.
A better choice would be Felicia Day. She's played the game, is a real gamer, has personality, and is well liked by most. I think she'd have fun with it (if she'd be interested, no clue)

I love the CM non-response here:

Players: Could you guys talk to us more?
CMs: We have a lot to do, that has nothing to do with the question.

But, they're not going to come out and tell the truth - Blizzard is on lockdown when it comes to communication. And that's probably for the best, considering how much they've fucked up in the last year any time they opened their mouths. They do not have good communication skills, and without GC managing the wildfires in the forums, there's no point in saying anything, really.

But they could find a better way to explain that. "We're busy" is kind of rude - as community managers, you'd think they'd want the players to feel like they're valuable, not just something on their To Do list, and pretty far down the list, too. Like "Hey, I feel ya, I'd love to talk more with you, but we have a lot to do here, on a daily basis", not "We're busy. We might get to you, or not. You're not a priority".

It's something that baffles me to no end. Blizzard cannot seem to communicate without being rude - even if it's not their intention, they just can't speak on anything in a friendly, open way that doesn't come off as dickish.

I haven't really gotten that vibe from him, but fair enough. At least we can agree that he's better than Mr. Mohr.

Agreed on the song part. I'll take the Tears for Fears version any day. Pass on that Lorde shit. I am Lorde ya ya ya.

If they want a celebrity to host that actually plays WoW, why not Clint Howard? He'd fit right in at the convention and he actually plays WoW. Clint Howard for Blizzcon 2016 woo! 8)

Eh, I don't know Ms. Day's work well. I do know that Aisha Tyler has done comedy skits on her geeky interests, she's very funny, she's different. Hell, she 's on one of my mother's day time hen-clucking shows and hosts the new version of "Who's Line?" - she's mainstream. Something Blizz could definitely do with - some positive press going into the film.

I do agree it's the best move to just say nothing. I also tend to believe them when they say they're busy. I don't think your latter is how it was intended.

Next year, blizzard are so desperate for someone famous to come on stage to attract people, they hire kim davis.

I don't mind their choice of host. He has a lot of haters though. I like the idea of having a fan do it. There are some decent fans that do videos/streaming that could prob host it well.

Reading the article and reading the CM one.... they really don't do much. Yeah read emails and a meeting. But really what do they do? And relying on some program to spit out the priority of tasks each day.. ugh. No wonder Blizzard doesn't seem to get much done

    See, now, dem's fightin' words.
If Wheaton is disliked for making a living off playing the nerd card over an acting gig he took as a kid, Day is even more disliked for being a grown-up faux nerd peddling an image of what it is to be a nerd that plays into every sad stereotype and yet is just mild enough to get advertisers to tag along.

"b-b-but, she actually played WoW" - so did millions of other women, younger and older. Many women have even made playing the game or talking about playing the game into a lucrative hobby or profession. But for them the focus is on the game itself, not on the person behind the keyboard.

So no, thanks, but no thanks. She can continue to be a sad footnote in the history of mmo-based media, and a quickly fading footnote at that.

If she's a footnote, what does that make you, an ink smudge? Are you guys kidding me with this nonsense?

There is no requirement to like celebrities or be excited that someone specific is hosting Blizzcon but the amount of text in these comments disparaging their work and careers is fucking ponderous, man.

They took things that they love (and there is little room to dispute that Will & Felicia are INTO the things some of you all dismiss as pandering) and turned them into businesses that produce content that a lot of people like and employs a lot of people. They work hard and take a TON of crap from all the true scottsmen who troll around on the internet. Grow up already.

Wesley Crusher Saves Blizzcon for the 28923749238th time!

I still wonder who's doing the closing ceremony concert this year

Dunno who Lorde is, but she doesn't do the "sleepy singing voice" thing very well.

And yet Blizzard still wonders why the community feels like ignored, shitty dollars, they're losing subs, and why games like Heroes of the Shitstorm and Diablo 3 aren't popular out of fanboy love.

You're telling me of all the god damn people to hire, they get some SJW douche bag that doesn't even like video games let alone Blizzard stuff?! Christ, even Pewdiepie would have been a better choice.

It's Metallica all over again. I'm almost torn between not getting a Virtual Ticket because I can't stand this guy or getting one out of morbid curiosity. Really, who the fuck thought Wil Wheaton would be a good host for this shit? He's got his head so far up Anita Sarkeesian's ass if he spits it's coming out of her mouth. Bring back Jay Mohr.

Wil Wheaton has never played World of Warcraft OR Hearthstone? JESUS...he just lost some serious geek cred with me. Is he even a real nerd?

He really isn't. He's is to nerds as big bang theory is to nerds.

    He's all lip service.

I thought Metallica were quite a good choice IMO. Only couple I didn't like was Tenacious D never been a fan of em personally same with The Offspring (damn that was years ago). As for Wil I usually follow him and will be watching the contests as I do each year. Although last year was insane with the Shek'zeer costume so I'm expecting something really badass to top that!
