Did you not help her? Surely if you had the means to, you know yourself to be a decent person, and would never hurt a woman. So, if you did help her, she wouldn't have the misfortune of finding an indecent man to hurt her. So, if you didn't help, and she got hurt, your inaction could be seen as vile and despicable.

It was a really chilly day too and she didn't seem dressed very warmly. It outside a "national park" though so I'm sure she could have gotten assistance from officials if she was in really dire straits.

Maybe it's just me, but whenever I go somewhere, I have a place to stay, and I never assume people are going to help me out of the kindness of their heart. Especially if the kindness extends into something over a period of time longer than a minute or two. That's why I always look out for myself and take precautions. It seems, however, that when someone doesn't take precautions, and is injured or dismayed particularly badly, when someone asks why they didn't have common sense to take precautions, there's a loud vocal base that insinuates that no one has to take precautions, and that the world should be safe, all day every day.

So, I say to you: Any foreign land (domestic or international) is dangerous, because there are always dangerous people everywhere. We, as human beings, must accept this and not take up strangers on their offers to be housed by them, or take free items from them, or even get in a car with them. I mean, hell, don't parents teach their kids not to talk to strangers anymore?

Men or women if you go backpacking you are taking on a big risk, the world is a big beautiful place but it's also full of really horrible people and you never know when you may bump into them.

Also, don't drive down I-90 eastward near Charlton on Sunday evenings. Especially where it meets I-84. It's not a good time.

Women need to be aware of the risks when travelling alone. They are targets for vile men who lay in wait to prey on them.

All people need to be aware of the particular dangers when you go to foreign places.
ALL...not just women...though women do have some dangers that are rather specific to the female sex.

Wow this is blatant nation bashing yet it is allowed. Groups from my university would go to Ecuador every year and be just fine. Many described how beautiful it is and what an amazing experience it is.

When I was in Europe I saw this woman trying to hitchhike really late in the day. Basically asking for trouble when you think about it..
