So wait, because you don't trust yourself enough to not stab someone why you're carrying a knife, which by the way has been a working tool forever, then all of use who carry must have murderous intent?

And the plumber, usually gets the pipes clean.

Not everyone lives in a developed urban area. And even those who do, can still find uses for a simple pocket knife. Better to have the tool and not need it, than need it and not have it.

This, I'm 30, been carrying a knife since I was 18. as a tool. I have multiple leathermans, some fishing knives etc.. never been searched. never given the cops cause for it.

I have a Benchmade knife that I keep in my pocket. I'm an environmental chemist, and use it almost daily. It was expensive, but I have never had to sharpen it in 13 years.

I love the people in this thread looking at the list of uses I put up and act like nothing on that list can happen outside of a zombie apocalypse. These are the kind of people who are the problem. Not the people carrying a knife.

I do admit, the level of fear displayed by some people over pocket knives is a bit baffling.

I can only guess the doll sets they were given as children didn't come with any.

Because the things you listed are outside of their horizon and therefore they can't understand it.
Their thought-frame in this case is, you're carrying a knife and therefore you're compensating some problems by acting as a tough guy.

Last week I had to retire my Victorinox, which I carried with me for ~ 12 years, because it was worn down. And no, it was not worn down from stabbing people.
A knife is in truth a very valuable tool. But again, couch-potatoes won't have the horizon to understand the conventional uses a knife has.

I worked 12 years in a building site. There's no use of a knife in everyday life that a screwdriver can do better. But yeah maybe you're just a tough guy and were playing with dolls

I'm glad you carry screwdrivers everywhere with you then.

A small toolbox in my car and in my house does just fine. I never find myself cutting ropes or tightening screws outside of a working environment anyway. Or stabbing dogs.

I've never stabbed a dog. I've never stabbed anything. Nor do I take my knife out of my pocket unless I need it for something.

For people, who tend to work a bit more often outside (because they trade with timber), a pocket-sized toolbox in form of this Victorinox is extremely valuable.
But I didn't know, that defending ol'women from aggressive unleashed dogs can also have a trigger effect. My bad...

That's why I said "outside a working environment". As in... When out with friends or doing everyday shit.

I have a knife in my desk drawer because why the fuck would I need one outside?

I don't think there is any use carrying a knife unless you're living in the countryside and need it as a tool or your profession dictates it to have one with you at all times. In Greece it's illegar to carry a knife with you without having a proof of reason (for example you are a cook).

Yes and I carry that knife always with me, but I'm not always in a working environment. And even there this knife had countless harmless uses.

If it's addressed to me, I bring it home and open it with my knife.
If it's not for me, what do I care?
