It's not as if the Horde and Alliance are really at war with each other anymore... it's more like grumpy neighbors. You should, the horde didn't deserve paladins, alliance didn't need shamans. The DKs are generally (according to lore anyway) knights risen as undead, A.K.A. the horde had no ties to DKs. The monks, fair enough... Demon Hunters, generally Night Elves, should be a night elf only class... You get my point.

Why are people trying to be "neutral" in World of Warcraft... its not world of lovecraft or world of maybecraft... its warcraft. Regardless of your class you are still alliance or horde. Quit trying to blend the factions.... pandas blended them enough and I have to register a panda every time as friend or foe.

Just put yourself in Illidan shoes.

You have to make contact with the horde and the alliance. You have to send some of your DH to them. Would you rather send each elve to their original side or would you put another burden on them by sending them where there race is hated ?

It's just standard diplomacy. May some blood elves DH be arround the horde helping their ranks against the legion in the lore (and vice versa)? Sure.
But that can't be generalised to the playerbase, it will be the exception rather than the norm, and players play the norm.

And in the lore it was basically only Illidan, which is why he was imprisoned.
But the story changes and now Blood Elves are Demon Hunters too.
And from the Illidan book it's actually really hard to believe there are Night Elf Demon Hunters.
Like.. Where do all those Night Elves suddenly come from?
Blood Elves is easy: Kael'thas had an entire army with him.
Am I to believe that there are suddenly thousands of Night Elves running around in the Outlands?

Illidan did have some followers in the lore though, it didn't outright spcecify that they were demon hunters like him, but it's very likely to asume they made similar sacrifices in which case it's still an alliance class and yet again the horde would be cut short. Honestly that's all the scumbag orcs deserve.

In the alpha right now the demon hunter areas in Stormwind and Orgrimmar have both types of elves present, so I don't see why we shouldn't be able to choose. It's not like demon hunters are actually joining the factions, the Illidari is still a separate, independent and neutral organization.

maybe you should follow your own advice? pretty sure that illidan book is considered canon AND never once was it mentioned that all the DH created by illidan were nelfs. should reread post #53 and 56 of this thread for further clarification on that topic.

BE joined Illidan as well. Since it was BOTH NE and BE with Illidan, makes sense that both are options for DH.

Illidari are neutral. DH get shoehorned into their respective factions because blizz.

Why would a Blood Elf see it fit to join the Alliance? And vice-versa for Night Elves? Why would they not want to naturally reconnect with their racial backgrounds? That's what people do in the real world, gravitate to their own people and their own race.

that's true, but only for each other. It totally makes sense blood elves and night elves re-connecting in light of joining to fight the legion, but that's just with each other. Sort of like a DK thing or the Pandarens.

However, while a NElf DH and a BElf DH can be best bros, don't mean the NElf likes dem orcs, or the BElf likes dem humans. You could still like each other even love each other and can't stand each others' friends.

i was reacting to Mirishka... and no he didnt... he just said allaince should have high elves who are basically just blue eyed blood elves. if you wanna add a race that already belongs to the horde to the alliance, then give an alliance race to the hord too. and good luck with that lol.
