You don't have beta access if you can't log in

Don't even know what the hell you're arguing about here since I came to the thread looking for giveaways and can't be bothered reading such nonsense, but you're incorrect with your statement. To have beta access means that your account is flagged for beta. That's it. If he needs a sub to be able to log in to it, that doesn't mean he doesn't have beta access. He has access the beta, he just isn't able to utilize that unless he has an active sub. Whereas someone with an active sub doesn't guarantee them beta access.

Found a guy who was offering a key for $100. Knew him through a contact on Steam. Either way, I'm in beta now and out $100. I don't feel too bad since I just bought him a few games he wanted on Steam and I used my Steam wallet, which has more than enough to buy the key a few times over.

He only had one key.

In all the previous beta's a subscription has not been required, and I'm pretty sure I've heard of people during this beta playing without one.

That's not what I'm arguing. I'm merely saying that if your account is flagged for beta, you have beta access. That's it. Regardless if the guy needs a sub to log in to it or not. Well, what you're merely saying is wrong.

The two are not mutually exclusive. You can't have been flagged for beta and also not able to log in to beta. If you have it, you can log in. Even people with starter accounts have been flagged and logged in.

At this point I've given up. Just going to play the PTR when it's up since we're so close to release.

Just to clarify, PTR will not allow you to go to the Legion content (Broken Isles). It would let you try out the class changes and the pre-event invasion stuff. But that's about it. You'll still be limited to the current zones. You'd need a beta key or wait for release to actually go there. At least that's the way it's worked in all previous ptr testing during expansion betas.
