Nope, native Polish - having tremendous ideas with 'th' in English. I guess it's fair given how everyone else has problems with pretty much anything in Polish

Seriously though, I have an utmost respect for anyone actually succeeding in learning Polish - if I didn't learn it automatically while being brought up, I'd totally be like "naaaaah, no way".

EDIT: oh and about education, I took English lessons in the past, but it was mostly about igniting my interest in it - video games and movies are key here

Which town/city do you live in exactly? Lahti?

You know, I've actually lived in Kerava, Sipoo, Tuusula, Helsinki, Vantaa, Vaasa, Jyväskylä, Pukkila and Turku.

The problem is you are thinking in French. It's a beginner's thing.

We don't have an expression for "it's raining cats and dogs" in Finnish, nor something similar even. But I have no issues with such things as when I'm speaking/writing/reading English, I'm thinking in English. I'm not translating Finnish to English and vice versa in my head.
It might not be too farfetched.

I hope not as it would be a pain in the ass to learn french.

Native Spanish/Basque speaker. Learned both English and French in school.

Spent a year living in the US and work for a UK firm at the moment (all communication is done in English).

Definitely, yeah. The grammar, the structure of sentences etc. is very similar, and even a lot of words are almost the same as in German.

I mean, learning a new language from scratch is always a challenge to some degree - but having gone through the pain of learning French, learning Swedish is definitely less frustrating to me, personally.
Not to mention the fact that I like the language itself better (even though French can sound great as well).

Without looking at the map, those I can tell are definitely near the capital, so my point about those stands. Vaasa, well, right next to Sweden, so no surprise there. The rest I wouldn't know.

Also important question for those rest is lived when? Swedish was more important some decades ago, while very little now.

Lol? Your point stands because I've lived near the capital? You just won the illogical argument of the day award.

No, I mentioned that you have Swedish translations in Helsinki, and it's nearby surrounding cities. I don't see how listing many of those surrounding cities is supposed to prove me wrong?
