UK: marijuana should it be legal?

as the "media" suggests weed is bad for you and can cause problems in your body, but why is it illegal its a naturally growing plant just like tobacco, yet tobacco is legal and that gives you problems to so does alcohol, now im not calling for a ban on alcohol or tobacco cos it would never happen anyway.

weed in its pure form has medicinal purposes and has been legalised for that in US and also in some states even legalised for recreational use, i think its time they ditched this ancient law of weed being illegal cos its not as bad as some of the legal stuff you can get, alot of people in the UK bought spice or salvia and it had a euphoric weed type effect but people ahve died from this and instead they ban legal highs, rightly so they should be banned but why are people looking for alternatives for weed cos weed is illegal, weed needs to be legalised cos it would generate alot of revenue for the UK.

what are your views on weed and the law in the UK

Should be fully legalised and taxed with similar laws to alcohol and cigarettes.
No driving under the influence, no consuption outside of designated zones, no sale to under 18s.

They could even do the whole "You can even grow it yourself, if you have a license." Like with alcohol distillation.

It's too late. They wouldn't legalize or even decriminalize it now because it would undermine their asinine blanket ban on all psycho-active substances.

The Tories would never let it happen anyway. If we got 3 terms of Labour in a row, they might make some changes then, but otherwise it won't happen for decades.

    all drugs should be legal.

Pretty much. Would make an absolute killing in tax revenue and put a huge dent in the profits of organised crime, the demand for Cannabis in the UK is unreal.

What really pisses me off about it all is how they don't even care about the science behind it all. The whole David Nutt incident was a fucking joke, and that was under Labour.

I don't think they should all be fully legal. Perhaps decriminalised to some extent. They should be managed based on the actual science of how dangerous and/or addictive they are, with appropriate laws in place to govern safe use.

Heroin and Crack shouldn't ever be legal, too addictive. Cocaine would require pretty hefty controls too. I'd be fine with light controls on anything else.

Nutt was hired to do a scientific research on effect on drugs on people and society.

The science came up with this (Note higher the bar the worst it is)

Since it didn't go with either Labour or Tory views on drugs David Nutt was almost immediately fired.

It should be legal but the puritans would freak out. They already freaked out when it got bumped down a schedule which led to it being put back to schedule 1.

I thought Sweden was supposed to be our test tube country?

If productivity drops 25% in Sweden after weed is introduced, maybe the rest of us don't want to do that.

Yeah I remember the debacle. I'm not sure how view the "science" on this one, I agree with the findings but when Lollis said science I didn't expect a graph. Drugs are too complicated an issue to simply be explained with a graph.

Given how poorly alcohol and cigarettes are consumed by a troubling number of people across the UK? I'd rather not see more addictive and mind altering substances made easier to acquire. The only exception should be for medicinal purposes - though with reliable checks to ensure that people aren't lying about their medical conditions.

Dear UK, make it legal so we have less foreigners in Amsterdam that come solely for drugs.

    Sincerely, the Neverlands.

It has been 3 years since Colorado in the USA announced legal Marijuana

I am wondering why there has been hardly any published Case Studies of the
"effects of legal Marijuana" in the community.

    Colorado seems ok.
South Park CO is still going
The Denver Broncos keep on winning.

Seems nothing wrong with legalizing Marijuana

It does state that it's an average of independent views of experts. I think it's taken as standard that everybody has a unique interaction with drugs and other influences.

I just meant that it seems almost asinine to try and attribute any kind of number to the dangers of any drug.

everyone knows alcohol and tobacco is more dangerous than weed, how many weed related deaths are there none, how many people have lost a family member due to some twat drinking and driving = alot, how many people have died of cancer due to smoking = alot, government are so fucking dumb not to legalise and tax this in the UK,

caffeine was illegal in the UK at one point lol now its in alot of shit, hemp is useful for making shit to and then if you legalise weed it will kill the organised crime business of selling it, i hope i lsee weed on the tobacco shelfs in supermarkets or specialist shops before i die
