It's not "SF" per se, it has many ELEMENTS of SF, as well as elements of Fantasy (even Western!). Warcraft it's the same: has a mix of both (and many others genres).

It's a space opera because the term was coined when people asked Lucas what it was, but it s under the umbrella of sci fi. It's like firefly and others.

And also, most people really don't care. 99% of people who go support the movie would call it sci fi. The 1% that changed their religion to Jedi call it a space opera like they are some upright atheist in an elevator. They are technically right, but they wind up just being annoying.

Opera, soap opera and space opera are completely different things.

Warcraf doesnt have Sci-Fi elements
The shot of the space and the planet doesnt make it sci-fi, it just shows the different worlds of orcs and humans.
And even the Draenei don't have a "spaceship".

Lucas has sold it to Disney, they may call it as they see fit.
