One of my former co-workers was/is (he's not dead, we just don't work together anymore) pretty radicalized, he said stuff like death to Israel and death to Bush, dude was/is fairly normal in terms of having kids, having a nice job, playing video games, going out to get a sandiwch, but because he got beaten up and spit on by some Israeli soldiers and because he's reminded time and again the hatred people have for Islam, that wound never healed and keeps festering and I know that one day if things go badly for him just one more time (he started his own business once before and it collapsed so he's got some debt hanging over him) he could be the next terrorist in the news.

And nothing can really be done to fix it. With BLM there's a theoretical end-game where police brutality stops and communities build themselves up, but with this religious bullshit, you basically can't do anything about it unless you straight up kick them out of your country. Any otherwise normal person can become jaded and attempt to save faith via Jihad. You can't compromise with the core ideology of the people, that says that Muslims should rule the world, Christians/Jews are second-class citizens, and everyone else should be dead. Any single thing that sets them off is so upsetting because they view the proper world order as out-of-alignment.
