In addition that I strongly suspect that this is staged to a degree, they dont specifically name the person (who, BTW, came to the show and thus could be said to reasonnably except to be roasted). They certainly not roast the same dude for 200 shows.

And for the record, the ruling mention specific cases of libel

-saying that the kid mother was used the money raised for the kid for buying swag (libel. She got 7000 $ for it)
-dubbing on a clip of the kid singing a pornographic song about the pope being a pedophile. (libel...and managed to get the local parish cut their help to the family)
-and above everything, the core of the ''joke''-the kid was on make-a-wish fondation, and was supposed to die but have not (ur ur ur) ,implying strongly that the kid was a liar. He was never on make a wish.
Your rebuttals would make more sense if your grammar wasn't worse than that kids singing.

if said by a comedian in a comedy act no. context of speech matters, hyperbole is a common staple of comedy.

    Jesus christ, Canada...
That' convenient dude, since Mike Ward made this specific statement at the podcast for the launch of his autobiography..

BTW, the core joke of the sketch is ''You should try/I tried to drown the kid in a pool, he is unkillable'' Funny.

You can use the bullshit sympathy game with anything, and it's especially easy in this case, but that doesn't mean everyone will fall for it. Some sane people still exist.
What a ridiculous idea, people who willingly put themselves into the public arena accept there may be some negative attention sent their way and adults generally need less protection than children. I find it frankly amazing that you think a 9 year old disabled child singing for the Pope should be as free a target for mockery as a successful adult running for one of the most powerful political positions in the world.

So that's it, there's officially no comedy in Canada now? Do you have the power to make that declaration?

Open discussions, dissension and criticism makes society better. Not setting up echo chambers, on either side.

    P. 17 of the jugement, for the bit about the mom stealing the money for buying a sports car. With insta-ban expletives. For the record, she got the princely sum of 7000 $ for this libel.

No he did not lol. You just said a bit ago what he actually said, and it wasn't that, dear.

Mike Ward language, while perfectly legal, would get me banned in the minute here, darling.

How exactly, do you think a 9-year-old singing for the Pope is expecting some sort of backlash the way a career-politician would when they run for President of the USA?

I always imagine some fat garden gnome too afraid to even look at people behind those hurpdurp my freedom posts.

So that's a yes is it? A 9-year-old singing for the Pope should expect it to be as controversial and open to ridicule as someone running for President, and therefore it's perfectly okay to bully them and have their lives made miserable. What a ridiculous view of the world you have.
