A slave, by it's very definition, is mistreatment.

Right fucking there. You cannot have slavery without mistreatment.

That's a given, we're talking about the difference treatments of a slave. Being one is never good, everyone knows that.

See my reply. I forget I am dealing with people who take things so literal.

that has always been the problem of groups/civilizations/religion/athist/eco-nuts/global warming/far left and right wing politics.........

usually with a battle cry or catch phrase!

some people take things to literal and go on a crusade to purge the non-believers because how could you believe anything else but what they believe!

*we do it all the time in WoW but we do it for the fun, and as always a select few take it to seriously*

To be fair it wasn't that bad. If the slave was lucky enough to have a master that treated them well they probably had a better life than your average pauper at the time. But no doubt many of them had it shit, depending on what their assigned task entailed.

This is that "out of touch" bit everyone is talking about. Men like him and Trump are the type to say "I'm not racist" then say some racist shit in the same breath. It's like they don't know what actual racism is, they think it's some black and white concept that they are taking no part in. And I get that, they're so out of touch they have no idea that racism goes beyond just putting on a hood and despising minorities.

This thread is astounding. "Well, TEHCNICALLY slaveries izshint dat bad becawse slaves were shometimez...." NO. NO, YOU FUCKS. SLAVERY IS BAD. THERE ISN'T MORE TO THE SENTENCE.

Yes, it's horrible that people take your comments litteraly, instead of placing their own bias on them. I don't understand how what he bolded was an allegory, to not be taken litteraly...

Not really, at least doesn't seem like it by this thread. Instead, it's just people being spoiled. We have someone diddling on a gaming forum, complaining about being a slave. The word simply has lost all meaning... Slavery now means the same as an emo kid complaining that society keeps them down. //

I don't get why Orielly would even care about the comment that it was built by slaves, its not like the FLOTUS made any judgements or stated any opinions that even implied that slaves were treated poorly. As someone who has a low opinion of her in the first place, I don't even see any value to this criticism.

Yes, they with their parents, who had no freedom to raise their children as anything, but slaves. I'm sure if people lost their freedom, to be confined to their owners whimsy, all of the problems related to making the wrong choice would be eliminated as well.

Yeah, I'm not saying driving is bad, but if everyone lost their freedom to drive, there would be no car accidents.

No. What I'm saying is, if you have an unwanted image of being a racist, don't say things that can be taken as racist.

That might all be true, but what an idiotic thing to bring up in that context.

Slavery was outlawed 150 years ago. It's time to move on or this country will be torn apart.

Now I'm waiting for Bill to come out and tell us all about how he treats his slaves he keeps in his basement/dungeon.
