No, by changing body positions in the air you can "slow" your decent/speed it up.

I hope he also considered the rebounce. I'm pretty sure the direction of the bounce back up will be harder to control than the initial fall. It would suck for him to hit the net somewhat of center, only to get subsequently thrown of the side.
