    Is attacking Argus pointless?

So quick lore question about the Legion. Since demon souls are tied to the nether wouldn't attacking Argus essentially be a pointless assault since anything done there would only temporarily reduce the demon population. Ultimately wouldn't assaulting the demons in the twisting nether be the only real means of stopping them? I'm asking cause I've seen alot of people speculating that the next expansion will take us to Argus but to me that seems like throwing alot of lives away for no real gain.

You break their core infrastructure and it will most likely devastate their ability to rally and organize.

Also Argus might be saturated enough with energies and darkness to count as an area of permanent death (We'll see, its speculation at this point),

Even if they can return, losing Argues would be a large blow to such a large centralized machine. A big step to wiping the next steps in wiping them out.

You can kill demons permanently outside of Twisting Nether, as long as it's at a place utterly saturated with Nether's energies. Don't ask how much Nether's energy would the place need to have to be considered "utterly saturated with Nether's energies", though, no one knows. We know Argus is one of those place, however, based on the book.

Nathreza was one such place. Argus is another.
The Legion would be a lot less dangerous without Archimonde (presumed dead now) and Kil'Jaeden. KJ is on Argus.

Plus, we need to know where to find the Legion. The Nether is vast. Given that Mages can and did randomly port to Nether to throw their thrash, it's fair to assume that Nether isn't filled with demons.

Legion isn't even out yet and you are asking people to speculate on the possibility of our traveling to Argus? For all we know the end of Legion could result in a discovery that would make cleansing Argus of the Legion feasible and desirable. Equally possible is that Argus has nothing to do with the next (or any future) expansion.

It's the best choice to make a real dent on the Legion, being the first planet that joined the Crusade and Kil'jaeden's HQ.

i really doubt if we have the manpower or the POWERS to launch a crusade at Argus, we got our ass kicked at the brokenshore.

what makes you think that we gonna take them down in their headquarter? with all their leaders and strongest soliders in it at once?

Demons can be perma killed in 3 situations:

    1. In the Twisting Nether.
    2. In places where the nether and reality co-mingle.
    3. In places where fel energy completely saturates the environment. (I.e Argus, Nazthreia)

So to answer your question, no it is not pointless.

In the Illidan novel, Illidan plans to open a portal to Argus in order to invade and kill Kil'jaeden, because then he would stay dead. It's also heavily implied that the demons who were killed on Nathreza, homeworld of the Nathrezim, stayed dead, because that was their homeworld/origin point.

Then lets just give up and die. Because that's the other choice we have.

People have been playing alpha/beta for 6 months, those who leveled know everything about the lore already. And also, there are strong proof that we're preparing as assault on Argus. Velens son was killed, he prepares Exodar to fly back to Argus in this moment. The Illidari have a Keystone which can open a portal to every Legion world, including Argus - which is their next destination after freeing Illidan. The portal at the Tomb of Sargeras directly connect to Argus, where Kil'jaedens Palace is located at.

Since Sargeras may or may not exist in a physical fashion anymore, what with his essence occupying Medivh and then being cast into the void after Medivh's death at Lothar and Khadgar's hands. Kil'jaeden remains the Legion's remaining figurehead and principle strategist - and with his death the Legion will be in disarray and easy pickings for the coordinated Army of Light. Argus makes for an ideal shatterpoint to attack the Legion.

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see." ― Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
