If they don't have enough money to do it, and no one is donating, then too bad. They shouldn't be pushing this 'you're morally obligated to help us!' crap when all nations have their own issues.
Brazil seems like a fiasco this Olympic season.
They already get the short end of the stick in life overall, something like this shouldn't happen. :/
Honestly that was the most disrespectful disruption of a thread I have seen in this forum in some time. Nothing he was saying made much sense at all, it was like he was blaming the disabled for being disabled...
In any case...
I agree that it is not acceptable for Brazil to be whining to the IOC for financial aid. Cities compete for the chance to host because hosting tends to be a financial BOON for a country rather than a sunk cost. I'd be interested in finding out why Rio is trying to ghetto-fy everything with this year's Olympics, it has only succeeded in making them look very bad to outside visitors and anyone following the Olympics.
Did they have some sort of economic recession after winning the bid to host? Because this year's Olympics will have a long-term impact on the perception of Rio and of the country as a whole.

I kinda thought the international Olympic committee was known for being incompetent and easy to bribe.
Would they not be better off doing their own thing?
None. I think the idea of bidding to move olympic sites to new locations (that will be abandoned and considered a waste after the event) to be stupid and asinine.
About the Para funding? It's a noble idea (the papa olympics) but if no one wants it enough to spend money on it, then it should go away. Everyone wants to feel a warm and fuzzy, and would bitch if it were cancelled, but seeing as how no one cares enough to fund it, I say fuck them. You can't let a program flounder and then be able to bitch and moan of its importance after its cut.
And when I say "fuck them". I mean the people who would bitch. not the athletes.

The Paralympics really just need better marketing. People like to watch the Olympics because they like to see how hard the human body can be pushed, the amazing feats the come from hard work, science, dedication. The same thing can be said about the Paralympics, see how far athletes can go, push themselves, etc despite having some disability. The Paralympics is full of some ridiculously amazing athletes but there are marketed as people you should feel sympathy for rather than people you should cheer for because of their athletic feats.

But who would pay ? Because pretty much nobody care about watching it. And views make money. TBH even if I think it's awesome that disabled persons still practice high level sport, I wouldn't watch it either.
Easier to leech on the IOC, which at least makes tons of money.
Having "olympics" to show off isn't a right. You can do it if you make enough money to justify it. Simple as that. Paralympics while being a great moral idea is an economical aberration.
This is extremely wrong. The Olympics are a disaster for most cities that host them which is why cities have been pulling their bids for upcoming games. It's how Beijing has ended up with the Winter Olympics.
