In order to oppose something you have to go and do it to find out why you oppose it. That's some fucked up logic there.

ISIS think they are great guys. Don't agree? Your opinion doesn't count, you were never in ISIS.

so who stops ISIS from doing bad things if you don't want any western nations to have soldiers? Guess the allied nations were wrong to oppose Nazi Germany because they were just Nazis wearing a different uniform right? Why stop with the military personnel? Cops kill innocent lives too, lets stop having those...

ISIS wouldn't exist but for the illegal invasion of Iraq by the US and other western military forces, and the resulting political vacuum. Western intervention was the best thing that ever happened to radical Jihadism.

You want to throw more petrol on that bonfire?

Isis would have happened any way, the moment Saddam's (natural) death would have occured. God knows how strong they would have been without the US led coalition dismantling Saddam's forces (many Isis guys were Saddam's soldiers).

Iraq was a vulcano waiting to erupt.

    Random question for ya.

Do you know how tough it is for prior military to get on base there to check out that museum on the west side of I-5? The one with the various tanks/arty outside of it. Big white building.

So we should not confront ISIS right? Just let them go on doing what they are doing and if they move to grab even more territory we should just let them have it right?

But probably proud? Torture and incarceration without trial remain the cornerstone of a developed society.
Wait no, I'm mistaken, that's those they defend their "freedom" against, probably...

Yeah I figured it was worth a try. Just didn't know if they've implemented any weird hoops to jump through since I got out of the Corps back in '09.

There were no jihadis in Iraq under Saddam Hussein, who controlled a secular socialist dictatorship. He warned repeatedly that they would move in if he was removed. They did. It is not difficult to understand.

If you'd actually lived in a war zone you'd know the last people you go to help for are the military. Even the ones that are supposed to be on "your" side. They don't care about anything other than killing people and other soldiers, everyone else is an outsider.

Living in a war zone is very unpleasant, unless perhaps you are in a military base with many of the comforts of western life, have armed guards everywhere, and don't really have to interact with the natives except on a very superficial level. Which I suspect is what you got when you were deployed in the navy before you got thrown out for being nuts and are now going to brag about.

You obviously have never been in a warzone with US troops.

The vast majority of time all we did was spend time with the kids, playing with them, giving out food and candy, helping them build up infrastructure, etc.

Outside of preparing for missions and then doing patrols very little of your time is spent "killing people".

Nope i never made it over seas, i was still in RO school when i was diagnosed with personality disorder. I dont consider myself a vet even tho i qualify. Joining the military wasn't about bragging rights to me, it was about repaying my country for what it has done for me. I failed and i have to live with that.

But back on to your tangent of Military men are evil, whats your end game? you want them all gone? you want it reformed? or are you just here to insult them for engaging i a human activity that has spanned our species existence because we DO NOT all just get along.

The people who talk to you will be sympathetic to the occupation. That is sample bias in action.
