They defined him as a criminal because they didn't approve of his methods, but everything he ever did was to combat the legion, all along, they didn't retcon any story or rewrite anything, it has always been this way... Just because the Night elves disagreed with him doesn't mean what he did was wrong, it just means they disagreed.

A good portion of what Illidan's done has been out of greed or specifically for his own benefit. Not all of it was against the Legion. And since he created the second Well, some of his actions have pretty much led to further Legion issues anyway. So yes, some of it was indeed wrong.

He made the second well because he rightfully believed that the Legion would return regardless, and felt the well's power would be necessary in fighting them.


And the legion would have indeed returned regardless of whether or not he made a new well.

THis is why he is a multi dimensional character, it is what makes it so great. It's like the cop movies you see where the cop takes bribes for his own personal reasons yet when it comes to that moment, he does the right thing. Sadly, characters like this eventually die, another concept called a poetic justice.

yeah thats a big NO.. get off the ilidan did nothing wrong bandwagon even for a hardcore fan it sounds ridiculous.. Back in WC3 he had done a LOT of wrong things, working outright for the legion for example (no tricks no double agents, just flat out scared of KJ!), tried to destroy northrend by using the eye of sargeras not realizing that he would be destabilizing the whole world & elemental plains and the spirits.. ran off to outland out of FEAR of KJ finding him, conquered the planet for himself, declared himself the lord of outland and still couldn't escape KJ since he comes to basically just scold ilidan and leave.. There are tons of other examples of all the bad things he did but moving on to BC

Ok the whole story of BC was messed up, they ruined his character and messed up his arc bla bla but claiming he did nothing wrong! or nothing is retconned is a BS based on that statement as well. I mean there is A'dal in the middle of shattrath that send us to fight against ilidan meanwhile Xe'ra sais he is the chosen one? really?.. He has enslaved a pit lord and using it to create himself a slave fel-orc army in hellfire, draining the water supply in Zang and killing everything in it in the process for his girlfriend (or doesn't stop her at least), destabilizing the whole place even further by draining energy out of nether storm and took over the dimensional ships of velen/naaru.. not to mention a piece of rock with no space and a limited zone still has bunch of areas that are heavily influenced with/crawling with demons even tho he declared himself the lord of outland.. Keeping maeiv in a cage for eternity for revenge instead of trying to explain himself, not ver nice huh? turned the temple of light to BLACK temple with a special PLEASURE palace wing to himself with special orgy rooms, succubuss guards and tons of half naked slave BEs for his pleasure.. Yep great guy who only wants to defeat legion for you.
So that whole nathreza missing is complete retcon and BS based on all these..

I left of ton of bad things still but feel free to look them up yourself.. now rage on >
