Flag-stomping teacher has no regrets, wants student punished

Ok so meet Lee Francis, a teacher who stomps on a flag in school and threatens to cut it up and set it on fire because "reasons".

    http://www.fayobserver.com/news/loca...a4df1b6b5.html

A history teacher in Cumberland County was placed on paid administrative leave Tuesday after coming under fire for stepping on the U.S. flag as part of a lesson on the First Amendment.

Lee Francis, an instructor at Massey Hill Classical High School, said he is scheduled to meet with Cumberland County Schools officials Thursday to discuss the incident.

He did this because he was ranting about 1st Amendment and apparently thought it was ok to go this far to make his point. Only now after his moonbat antics were caught on film, leading to him being suspended, he's become butt-hurt over it and wants students who took his picture punished. He even goes so far as to say that taking a picture of him stomping on a flag is "defamation of his character" as if some piece of garbage like him had any character to begin with haha.

    http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2016/...punished.html#

“There were some laws broken as far as photos of me taken that violate the county’s policies – and issues that could be considered defamation of character,” he said.

He said the student who snapped the photo of the flag desecration “broke the law.”

“I believe that child does need to be punished in some way – absolutely,” he said. “I can’t take a picture of them and in turn they cannot do the same of me.”

Now meet Alex Dunn, a student who stood up and took possession of the flag so that this radical moonbat couldn't defile it any further. The link below has a video interview of him, its short, and its worth watching.

    http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2016/...ican-flag.html

“I have a father in the military who taught me the way to respect the flag,” Alex told me.

When he saw that his teacher was desecrating the flag during a classroom discussion, the teenager knew he had to do something. And what he did has patriots across the fruited plain cheering.

“It was such a disgraceful thing for a person to do – especially in front of so many military children who understand the meaning of the flag – apparently unlike him,” he said.

So Alex grabbed his phone and snapped a photo – a photo that would eventually go viral on Facebook. Then, the teenager rose from his seat, picked up the flag and took the defiled banner to the principal’s office.

The indoctrination of youth and the programming of radical anti-American sentiment is an ever growing and ever vicious plague but its nice to see that its not a nation wide pandemic ...yet.

I don't think I'll ever find it not weird the level of reverence a large number of Americans give to a piece of cloth.

I mean, his point about free speech is kinda on the nose considering the supposed vitriol it's attracted.

Teacher deserves to be fired. Someone like that shouldn't be in a position to influence the minds of children.

Note I say 'fired'. Not sued/jailed/executed/forced to watch meet the kardashians back to back.

Well, he's within his rights to stomp on the flag, at least one he already owns.

I don't really see why you 'cons get so butt-hurt yourself. Oh no, someone stomped on the flag, someone doesn't like America oh no my whole world view of America being loved by everyone in the world is shattered. Seriously? Do you actually believe that sort of garbage?

I support his freedom to do so; But I am also fully aware that actions have consequences.

Flags are not mere pieces of cloth to some people. Some of these people happened to be people that held the power to terminate this dude's job.

Now he is free to disrespect his country's flag in his spare time.

Teacher IS entitled to stomp on the flag, as ist is a perfect example of First Amendment. if the kid is so butthurt about constitutional rights, he can adress the congress about it. But since not even flag burning is prohibited ( because First Amendment agress upon), he has no leg to stand on.

And yes, you are not entitled to photoshot your teacher or anybody else without consent.

Do you have as much apathy for the second amendment as you do for the first?

High school isn't the right time or place. Everyone has to go to high school.

    College is fine.

It's part of the "liberal indoctrination agenda", somehow.

He had a right to stomp on the flag. Not because I hate America but because it is a fundamental tenet of our country. It doesn't stop me from calling him a douchebag.

As far as I know, you can take pictures or video of anyone for any reason in a public space without it being considered illgegal. There is some fuzzy ground on whether a public school is actually public as most our private property, but that really doesn't pertain to this as he has no epecttation of privacy. So the kid was legeally allowed to take a picture of him. Haven't read the entire story yet so unless the kid put lies attached to the posting of the picture, the teacher has no basis for defamation claim.

Conservative PC police! How dare you not love America! I'm so outraged you don't think like I do!

Apparently this dipshit is nowhere near as familiar with the First Amendment as he thinks he is.

They should introduce safe spaces, zones in school where people can be safe from "flag defilement".

He is free to stomp on the flag, as that doesn't make him any less American. I find such exercises in free speech actually more AMerican.

However, a business, and likely also a school district unless they have less freedom of free speech laws, can make their own judgements on wether they want to keep the guy or not as a reflection of their values.

Either way, I'm really tired of this fake patriotism thing, where we decide who is true and who is not based upon correctly followed rituals rather than honest to god principles (and no, blindly respecting your country is not such a principle, or freedom to protest wouldnt be a thing).

Its easy to be a patriot when your goal post is saluting a flag

He actually did not meant to disrespect his country. He just wanted to show a point about freedom of speech and the irony is that despite that if he is fired his life is probably ruined.

Why would they? If someone wants to defile the flag they can go right ahead.

But, always keep it in mind, Freedom of Speech is NOT Freedom from Consequences.

In a classroom? Kinda. Sorta. Maybe. I guess it's a lesson of sorts, but I doubt the sorts of people enthusiastic about it would be as enthusiastic about such displays from teachers if it offended their sensibilities.

IMO it was a good thing. He was doing it in the context of showing what the first amendment really means. He wasn't doing it to be hateful but showing that no matter how much you might not like what he did he has the right to free speech.
