If a person who was in cryo sleep for the last 20 years was woken up and shown this debate and asked who one they aren't going to say Trump.

i would say his allepo answer was shitting the bed, also equating clean coal to green energy showed a mastery of the issue that a first grader might employee, ie clean coal must be clean because clean is in the name.

Clinton underscores why she wasn't my first or even second choice for president this election season when she gives bullshit answers to such questions. Coal is a dirty energy source, it pollutes the environment and is dangerous work for coal workers. What she should have said is that our energy needs are changing, renewable energy resources are cleaner and will be cheaper for the United States in the long run, and talked about training programs for displaced coal workers (and manufacturing employees, although that would have meandered slightly off-topic).

If global climate change is going to move into a serious issue for the US the candidates have to be for solar energy. The waffling is simply kicking the issue down the road.

I've played a lot of sports, and spent a lot of time in locker rooms. Her strategy is working. Look calm, collected, speak to policy, and play the good cop and let Trump hang himself on his own words. Why on earth would you change a winning strategy?!?

The problem is that presumes Florida and Ohio is a slam dunk for Clinton. That is a mistake.

I thought the moderators did a good job. They had very pointed questions for BOTH candidates and at least tried to keep them in line. Best moderation yet. No fact checking though.

Getting him off would give a 99% win to her. Some have already cast votes, and some state have a deadline (which I assume is already past, going off what I read 5 min ago from 538) that candidates must be in by.

It's not just about the presidency, and lets be realistic Trump has no chance of being president anymore. What matters now for Clinton is can democrats take the house and the senate. To do that she needs to tie the republican house/senate candidates to Trump, and for that to properly work she needs Trump still hanging around being his toxic bigoted hateful self.

Betting markets are ticking up slightly for Trump.

Where did he win? He fell into traps, didn't stick to the topics, even blocked his opponent from answering questions. The one question that he could have destroyed Clinton on, the emails, he blocked her from addressing it. He looked mess of a mess than he did last time, but thats only on curve and still below par. He has yet to even hit a level to make Clinton sweat.

We honestly need to stop giving him points for doing slightly better for his piss poor level and start grading him on the same scale as other presidential candidates. Especially if you're a Conservative/Republican. The GOP gains nothing by playing partisan with Trump at this point, its what got them into mess and the only way out is to learn from their mistakes and move on. Coddling Trump isn't learning from mistakes. Trump has weakened the entire political ecosystem of this country by holding up the cycle with his Trumpisms. The GOP cannot grow because of the thorn in its side, the Democrats cannot evolve because they have no competition to push them.

Along the lines of what Clinton said about spending so much time just having to correct Trump's ignorant statements (she said it more eloquently than me), the country as a whole, Republican and Democrat has spent far too much time and energy on Trump, a candidate we all know isn't fit to sit on a city council, but we do so for our own amusement. Its time to get serious and move on.

We haven't seen new polls since the video that was leaked. Some of them already show double digits by the way.

The problem is the polls are going to come out after this second debate so at this point the issue will move to the backburner.

Agreed, I thought they did a pretty good job. Even when Trump wanted to argue with them : P

Though I would have loved fact checking, I don't think we would have gotten past Trump's first few responses with how many false memes and conspiracy theories he referenced that would have needed to be debunked. And he would have likely argued each and every one of them.
