I can confirm;

1) It's important to be polite, for example do not skip any queues. We're famous for our Queues, don't upset the balance.

In London most people are well practiced at hearing various accents, especially the various accents that can be heard from their own. (Cockney and Oxford come to mind) The more rural areas..I believe would find even an "American" accent a curiosity. (American accents are almost as varied as the UK)
