Very different circumstances. In both those cases the defense argued that the defendant didn't even commit the crime. In this case, he has admitted to driving the bus, and if it's obvious that the bus was speeding, there's no conceivable defense.

Driving the bus recklessly and causing death is. So, driving the bus, and speeding off the road, killing passengers, is clearly the crime.

The problem is the article states that the mother that said that lost her child.

It was stated that he swerved, and was traveling much faster than he should have. If it wasn't intentional, then it's difficult to explain why it happened the way it did.

There's no logical reason why someone would be driving a bus that fast in that area.

Well, they're reporting that he was speeding and the situation at the crash site seems to support that. So unless he can prove that the accelerator malfunctioned or something, he's done.

If it were up to me I'd give him 10 years, unless they can prove intent, then it should be 25 to life.

That's only 2 years per slain child, not to mention endangering and injuring so many.
