I'm just going to leave this video here for discussion, I stumbled upon it and found it interesting; it illustrates the insidious way in which believing oneself to be morally superior makes people act in loathsome ways, like threatening and shaming someone for wearing a shirt:

Those guys didn't approach him for a discussion (or not that he had to entertained them even if they did considering he's minding his own business), they approached him to harass him. There is no reason for that.

The point of the video seems to be that this incident happened in California and the 'assailants' clearly feel that because they are in California, they have the right to act in this fashion. Basically it reveals the whole way of thinking to be that once you 'control' a region you are free to act like a psychopath and claim the moral high ground. It is basically empowering people to be abusive thugs, and they openly state in the video that the authorities won't help the man they are harassing because they authorities are Mexican and on their 'side'.
