I Pirate things.
Yo ho i'm a pirate and a pirate is free!
Torrenting isn't illegal first off, you mean piracy specific. Second, there are movies/software that no longer are obtainable and/or you can't get them in your region despite being willing to pay for them, so there are a few at least morally grey reasons. I personally download quite a lot, but it's so I can have digital forms of the movies I already own and have paid for, with 0 uploading.

Not even remotely close.
always ways around dumb stuff like that.
pirates life for all
Pretty much this.
Seems that people don't know that downloading pirated content isn't illegal, it's only illegal if you would sell that content or upload it.
Also do they seem as naive as movie producers that it's something they can stop. They can't. Fix pirating? Make sure that content is streamable for low prices at home, when the movies are still in the theaters.
Personally I pirate, but I wouldn't mind paying around 50-75eur per month if I can watch the same movies at home, shortly after they came out in theaters. I'm fairly sure there's a lot of people that pirate, that would pay for it.

It's... open source... Not advertising anything.
And besides that, I see no mention of anything about advertising in the off topic forum rules.

This topic is hilarious. Love world first country people and their arguments about piracy while everything for them is dirty cheap. And even more funny those who think it's stealing when you download a movie through torrent, lmao.
I wonder when they will ban more aggressively sites for streaming :P Dont understand why people need to download stuff when you can just stream it...Stealing a game is a bit much for me, I dont do that...Well did it for 2-3 10+ year old games, 2 which I bought later on.

Bit surprised that some people on a forum for video game geeks are against pirating, its not like these directors or producers lose that much money. Reminds me of this:
Ffs I don't watch south park, but that's the cringiest thing I've seen. SOME people pirating is not a problem, the problem comes when everyone does it. And that's the objective of this ban, reduce the number of people who pirate. The more obstacles you put the less incentives people have to pirate.
