Thanks for the reminder that Bush left Obama 1.6 trillion annual deficits and a mancession costing America over 500k jobs a month, and Obama is leaving Trump 0.6 annual deficits and a small surplus of 100k+ gained (usually over 200k) jobs a month.

Being the kind of guy that Trump is, he will never give Obama the praise and credit he hugely deserves for his successful presidency, overcoming the mess that Bush left him and handing off to Trump something substantially better. I don't think you understand, still. No offense. Treasury notes are not a credit card, or some kind of rolling debt. They have set repayment terms, 5yr, 10yr etc. That said, interest rates could not get any lower so, the borrowing is cheap.

I have no idea what you are on about how the debt can't get paid. It gets paid every year. We have payments that have to be made every month. We have old treasury notes that come due and have to be paid. We have never defaulted on that. This isn't some kind of hypothetical thing where we just print money and hand out 20 trillion dollars to treasury note holders. It's real money. We really borrow it. It really gets paid back. It's a basic financial instrument anyone can buy. You can literally go to the bank and buy one tomorrow. I mean...really...what are you on about again?

Well now we're getting into a bit of semantics. Yes, the treasury bills have set terms. With what money do we pay off the treasury bills with if there's a deficit? Its paid by new treasury bills. If I paid off a credit card with another credit card, I wouldn't consider that "paying off" my debt, because generally speaking, I'll have more debt afterwards and pay more interest.

Also theres a difference between servicing a debt (paying the interest on it) and paying it off. The method of paying off old debt with new debt is not paying it off, it is paying off the interest and rolling it over. (with more debt). Unless you think somehow the US is going to run a 1T surplus for 16 years, the amount of debt the US will have will not only never be paid off, it will likely increase at an increasing rate (over time)

The reason the deficit exploded in 2009 was due to the economic collapse which caused tax revenues to collapse in turn. When you are handed a multi hundred billion dollar hole then the deficit is bound to explode, and that is 100% on Bush.

Don't forget fully accounted for the wars unlike the accounting black magic that was done to hide their costs under Bush.
