Four Guantanamo detainees transferring to Saudi Arabia, as part of final wave

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017...inal-wave.html

Four Gitmo detainees are slated to be transferred to Saudi Arabia in the next 24 hours, the first of the final wave of up to 20 transfers expected before Inauguration Day, two U.S. officials tell Fox News.

The identities of the four detainees are not immediately known.

The transfers are proceeding despite renewed opposition from President-elect Donald Trump, who tweeted on Tuesday: “There should be no further releases from Gitmo. These are extremely dangerous people and should not be allowed back onto the battlefield.”

The Pentagon said Gitmo transfers would continue over Trump’s objection.

There are 59 Gitmo detainees remaining. Roughly 20 are expected to be transferred before Trump is sworn in later this month.

U.S. officials say 30 percent of released detainees are suspected of returning to the battlefield.
The President releasing more of America's enemies back to the fight.

How many lives will be put at risk or even lost as a result of this?

    This mans agenda is amazing.

Charge them with a crime or let them go. Rule of law matters.

If you're so sure it should be easy to charge them with a crime.

Nonsense, we try terrorists in US courts all the time.
Why did you think they were in Gitmo in the first place?
The Bush Administration's wild disregard for human and civil rights.

What court DOES apply then? In any event, there has to be an allegation to be tested by some kind of metric in any justice system. Saying "you scare me so I'm going to keep you here until you die or I stop being afraid," is not the way we should be conducting ourselves.

None, that's why they go to a military prison.

'The allegation is that they are terrorists and its not like they are scooped up by cops walking a beat.

They are detained by the military, for the most part, during military actions.

They are terrorists, their guilt isn't in question.

The military doesn't have a court?

Then these people should have either been tried or released years ago.

Doesn't work that way. You're trying to apply the standards for US citizens to feral 3rd world terrorists. Amazing how you care so much about their well being. They would kill you if they had the opportunity.

We have tried foreign born terrorists in the US successfully on many occasions.

As near as I can tell this is just a thread to bitch about a President declining to indefinitely contain civilians who haven't been charged with a crime.

We have no obligation to do so.

He campaigned on closing the place and is only letting terrorists out last minute.

And the fact that you want to see terrorists released demonstrates your morality.

He's been releasing people there for some time. And yes, I don't favor imprisoning people indefinitely when they haven't been convicted of a crime. Ya got me.

Sorry; what was the issue with charging them with a crime and then sentencing?

    You haven't had enough time?
