Is this a full upgrade to 940? Really hope it's not like 5 at a time (but that'd point to NH being out for an extremely long time)

Yes, and if you raid at pretty much any level it doesn't take long at all. Calling it a "grind" compared to pretty much any previous arbitrary-collect-the-orange-items would be a massive stretch.

Considering it is needed for multiple legendaries, it would be retarded if it was just a 5 ilvl bump. So yeah, I imagine it's straight to 940.

The only thing that really instills any doubt is the "up to 940" part in-game, but personally I'm feeling confident it'll be a full upgrade, probably just copy pasted the tooltip from Crystallized Fel which said "up to" 795

It seems so! you get 3 from each emissary chest 15 from M+ chest, and x per raid boss.

Seems super straight forward.

Well I mean it's 15 from weekly cache, 10-30 from raid, and a max of 3-9 you could have gotten from emissary.

While possible, you need a lot of luck to get it.

Fair, could be up to 5, did a 25man normal this morning downed 8 bosses, highest we got (out of the 25) was 3, so maybe we had poor luck

Seems easy, straight forward and nothing to fret about. We will all upgrade our legendaries in no time, which is fine. It is simply to ensure that we keep on using them as BiS for their item slots.

Take the quest first then go and open the weekly chest in ur class hall and there u go u have 15of them in 2 min + 15 more if u have 3 emissaries...should take like 2 hours full to make the quest

It might also be limited by difficulty

That'd be purely stupid. Because you can only get it once a week across all difficulties, so it would force you to do mythic, before doing a heroic or normal etc.
