Despite Trump winning the POTUS, the GOP actually has the ability to coup d'etat him in literally an afternoon - bloodlessly - and put Pence in charge, just by collectively claiming Trump isn't mentally fit for the role of POTUS. They don't need the approval of any Democrats, they don't need a Senatorial or Congressional or Judicial hearing, or anything like that. Literally all the people who would need to agree to such a coup are GOP insiders - Reince Preibus, Paul Ryan, Mike Pence, etc.

If he puts out a particularly weird tweet, they could all choose to collectively claim he's no longer mentally fit for office - and he loses all power on the spot. There is also virtually no official channel by which Trump could retake power once ousted in this way, except for the same GOP'rs to revoke their previous claim.

Notably, they don't need to prove insanity - as you might expect - because maintaining the chain of command is so vital to national security, the mere idea of Trump's unfitness is enough to oust him.

The problem with that idea is that the Trump base will turn on them like nothing you or I have ever seen if they remove him. Its become pretty obvious how cult like his followers have become. Now what happens when those in authority take out a cult leader? How do you think it's going to play out in forthcoming elections if they do that?

No they've chained themselves to a political suicide bomber, all they can do right now is wait to see if he presses the ignite button.

The interesting thing is alternative metrics turned out to be true. If you say, it's a fact that more people watched obamas inauguration than this inauguration, then show a picture of more people. Yes, you give a fact, if the answer is only based on those two pictures. However, I can give an alternative fact that, alternatively to your assumption that only people in those pictures watched the inaugurations, there were many more millions of people who watched this inauguration online than obamas and that if you add the two together, this was the most watched inauguration.

Two statements can both be facts, and draw different conclusions, there are such things as "incomplete" facts.

You either forget or conveniently ignore that they specifically mentioned attendance AT the inauguration. They only started shifting the discussion to online etc. after they had been caught in a lie.

To be fair in this case the hysteria was even over here in europe and there is literally 0 effect on women's rights here because of trump. There is more to these protests than reason, that's for sure, especially since it was originally supposed to be about planned parenthood. Unifying behind the current fix point of hype and hatred , aka. Trump was just more popular.

Except that Spicer explicitly stated that it was the most attended (it wasn't), the most watched on TV/internet (again, it wasn't), and cited DC Metro statistics that were flat-out incorrect (so he lied).

Alternative facts are lies. That's all there is to it. Media never disputed that millions watched the innauguration, they disputed the claims that it was the "most watched", the "most attended", and that the rain "stopped as soon as trump started talking". Because remember, it was Trump that spent months hyping up how many people would show up/watch his inauguration, so media were calling him on his bullshit.
