Will not happen. You posted in the lore part, so you most likely know that the heroes actually defeating all those threads are most of the time different ones.

We as the players are mostly just playing a smaller role to allow the important ones to finish their job (in lore, that is).

Long story short: no rest for the wicked. Even in MoP we extinguished many threats just before they were able to actually do any harm (similar to most of classic WoW)

You can have meaningful raids like Throne of Thunder or Heart of Fear without every villain we face the end of the world.

Which leads me into my point. I think Azeroth needs a Cataclysm type update. Nothing major like revamping quest chains, but introducing scaling levels to the old world, introducing world quests. The tech is already there as we say it with Legion invasions. The design space put towards making new zones could be put towards reinvigorating old zones. How cool would it be if we saw Gadgetzan updated in the expansion after Legion to be like Hearthstone's reinterpretation of it? The entire zone of Tanaris as a giant city to quest in as a updated leveling zone.

Overall I think the world needs a reimagining to introduce scaling content and boosting the exp gains overall to make it so players can just enjoy the storylines they want to follow, and level in zones that they like. Because we're quickly reaching the point where buying level boosts aren't just an option, but mandatory for new players.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but the Thunder King was very much that scale of threat. We just managed to stop him before he was at full strength.

No offense but who are you to declare what millions of people did or did not like? A lot of people unsub for reasons besides "WAHHH PANDAS, I HATE THIS." Sometimes life happens. Jobs. Kids. College.

Anecdotal, sure, but personally I've known far more people who left the game over 12 years because of those kinds of things, than because of 'I hate this expansion' reasons. Sadly, several of my closest friends quit playing because of medical/health issues (cancer, stroke, etc).

You're entitled to hate Mists or whatever, but have enough common sense to understand that the way you feel isn't the way everyone else feels.

But I agree that WoW needs another Cata update but I think it should be massive unlike what OP suggests, I think a Black Empire expansion where the Old Gods take over the surface would be incredible, changing all the quest chains and stuff would help add all of Blizzards new WQ, Scenario, Scaling, Phasing technology as well.

Doing WQ and having World PvP WQ during the levelling process would make it way less stale, so would scaling technology in general so people can finish zones properly and go whereever they want. Having like Gurubashi Arena as a scaleable PvP WQ so all levels of players can fight semi-equally (low level players would have less abilities still unless they change that) would be amazing and there could be so many places similiar, it'd do wonders for people who want World PvP
I bet ya 100k Gold that Kil'jaeden was only using 1% of his power on us, and only lost all because he didn't know when to look up....

I think Legion is really the only threat we've had. Everything else was just something we banded together to take care of. Like Saddam or ISIS.

Wrath was just some undead stuff, not much to see there. Sure, there was some big dragon in Cata, but there are always some asshole dragons aboot. Pandaland didn't have anything, a few sha minding their own business and then made up some shit about my honorable warchief, then WoD had us hunt him down for no fucking reason which started the shit we have now... so really, it's the alliance fucking problem.

Old God's been a threat since vanilla and pretty much integrated into Wotlk (yogg), Cata (corrupted Deathwing & Twilights hammer), MoP(y'shaarj). There wouldn't have been Naga either without them.

To a lesser extent Infinite dragonflight, Ragnaros forces, Ulduar iron dwarves/Loken.

    Like, just, WTF ?

You know Pandaria's name is only after the sundering right ?

    That's united Azeroth.

The Pandaren empire also began before that event. So when it became an island (by the "will" of the last emperor Shaohao, still before the sundering), it was in fact the Island led by the pandaren.

The pandas didn't bother me at all(I spent a lot of time here DEFENDING their inclusion, in fact), and I think MoP is by far the worst expansion released so far. Like, I leveled my main, one alt, then I literally quit leveling other toons cause it meant I would have to take them through the shitty MoP content and I just couldn't bear that. Finally got them leveled in the pre-Legion invasions. In other words, MoP sucked so hard that I completely quit playing 5 toons at lvl 85 in order to avoid having to play MoP...and the pandas didn't have anything to do with that.

Yeah, but you shouldn't be able to fight gods. That's just stupid. Like really, if one of the earth gods wanted to war... fuck we going to do, sit there and take it, that's what.

They are called "gods" but they aren't deities or in any way related to our Earth based religion-all-powerful-overseeing being.

Titans aren't gods either cause obviously a lot of them are dead.

Now we know void lords are ruling over them, old gods are basicly just planetary parasites shot into the Dark Beyond(which is basicly space between planets in the current dimension) to kill planet world souls (as seen in the Star Augur encounter), it's just a name, nothing more.

If one of the Earth Gods want to war, we nuke the hell out of them, that's what we'd be doing :P

Well, joking aside, in our myth there are already mortals that messed with gods, killed some, or became one (depends on which country / area myth we are referring to). Killing god(s) actually is pretty normal in fantasy.

That does not sound like something that would get people overly excited. No seriously, I can already picture the crickets if that was announced at a convention. Compared to some Old God / Titan / Crazy shit.

I don't see that having a reaction like something like this:

Then you completely missed out on MoP's major strength: Endgame Content, particularly patch content.
Look at how people rate expansions, MoP is continuously rated in the top 3.

Super Dodgeball was one of my all time favorite video games.
    Actually, you're not wrong.

The legion has destoryed Entire Planetary systems, Galaxies, Alternate Universes, and more. The undead did deal MASSIVE damage, and the LK did manage to kill us, but the legion did CREATE them, and they did shatter Azeroth at the end of the WoTA.

Deathwing was a threat, but died as soon as he came...

And MoP was like WWII but for azeroth....

    Old gods are meh...

You're right. We do need a break. On a tropical island, dressed in a bikini and sipping on a drink. And of course, sushi! The sushi arrives because Azshara and the naga are invading. Fresh sushi coming to you now, on a tropical island. Rated T for teen.

The expansion will of course also include scuba-diving among krakens, dealing with the goblins of Kezan and trying to fight the lava that threatens all that remain there, men, women and children, meeting with Jaina on Kul Tiras for some cupcakes made out of chopped orcs and tea.

But wait, that's not all! We will also be getting our own ship to sail on the calm seas of Azeroth except the part when we are attacked by pirates, naga, kraken, kvaldirr and who knows what else. Oh, and we'll be sailing around the Maelstrom too, so the seas won't always be calm

We will get a new race for both sides in the form of a naga faction, beautiful creatures that have decided to ally with us as the queen butchered their families when they expressed their disagremeent with her, murlocs who are poor innocent cannibalistic creatures enslaved and treated like cattle by naga and breed with the sole purpose of murder in mind, makkura, a race of ancient lobster people set on destroying anyone not like them, and many others!

    Hi
I liked the theme MoP mostly, great landscapes. I always wanted to see Pandaren in WoW due to WC3...
But what let it down for me was how ridiculous they made the Pandaren. Too cute, too fat, and that damn farmers market time sink...horrid!
The Pandaren should have been badass cool martial artists zen chi warrior spirit culture.
    Cheers, A
