So I've recently heard about a snack in Germany called kinder surprise eggs which is basically a hollow chocolate egg with a toy inside. Apparently these are illegal in America and I can't for the life of me understand why.

As a kid I didnt try to eat the plastic. Maybe american kids are just used to eating plastic (american "cheese").

I loved that there were collectable plastic figures of movies/games characters inside some eggs (they say in every 7th egg).

Because the toy inside is a choking hazard. Not that I as a kid ever though about eating the entire egg with the plastic still inside but hey evidently someone did as is usually the case with prohibited items.

No they really can't. Nobody under the age of 18 can legally by a gun in the United States. Except for pellet guns.

I think we just assume consumers cant be trusted. Even the barcode paper and glue we put on food is edible!
