The situation can be solved very easily, just not by us. If China and Iran were to join the civilized world in regards to sanctions, the problem would resolve itself rather quickly. The North Korean problem is only a problem because these two other countries allow it to continue.

Were we brainwashed by the Geneva conventions? Clearly, you have no idea what goes on in that country. Speakers in your house for the dictator to preach at you. Any disagreement with government results in being taken away to be worked to death at a "re-education camp", if you are not just shot on site. An entire population is being starved so a tiny country can have a nuclear program they cannot afford, and it still is so underfunded, it will take millions more starved to get it even remotely viable. Yeah, sure. We are the ones who are brain washed....

Your argument would have merit if we had done a better job of rebuilding Afghanistan and Iraq 10 years ago. But we did not. In fact, things are over all much worse since we "liberated" them. One of the posters put up a challenge to those supporting replacing the North Korea government: are you willing to pay the price of regime change. The general consensus of those who talked about regime change were in agreement that China and South Korea would be responsible for that, not the US.

You have some very good intentions. But you do not have the means of making things better. And you have not even begun to talk about the cost of rebuilding South Korea and possibly Japan in the aftermath of a war. Finally, our track record in the Middle East leads people to reject the idea that we would actually improve things if we intervened.

The best would be if he just ignored north korea.

North korea fears nothing more than being ignored and have to rely completely on China as their protection power.
