French police say one officer is dead and at least one other was wounded during a shooting in Paris Thursday.

One gunman was reportedly killed near the Champs Elysees. Police say there wwere two shooters.

The incident is ‘very probably a terrorist act,’ officials later said.

Paris authorities warn people to avoid the Champs Elysees.

Some reports say a gunman who fired on them has been shot dead. The Champs Elysees, where the shooting occurred, has been sealed off.

France goes to the polls on Sunday in the first round of the presidential election.

Jihadism is a major issue in the vote after attacks claimed by so-called Islamic State.
