With certain disclaimers that is true. Note, however, that they met through drama club rather than a class, then he pursued her for ten years -- even after his parents moved him to a different school.

Then she met Macron, a 15-year-old student at La Providence, a private Jesuit high school, where she was directing a play he appeared in.

Indeed, when he left La Providence to study at the elite Lycée Henri IV in Paris, he made a declaration fit for a romantic melodrama.

“You will not get rid of me,” the 17-year-old Macron told the married mother of three. I will come back and I will marry you.”

True to his word, Macron eventually married Trogneux in 2007, following a 10-year romance.

“Love took everything in its path and led me to divorce,” Trogneux told Paris Match last year. “It was impossible to resist him.”
It appears that her kids are OK with the relationship.

The former economics minister is step-father to his wife’s three adult children, including son Sebastien who is two years older than Macron.

Daughter Tiphaine, 30, is a lawyer who works on her step-dad’s campaign.

She reportedly described Macron as having an “exceptional personality” and being an “intelligent man.”

When I was his age, I dated women significantly older than I was (although the largest age gap was merely 11 years). I simply found them to be more interesting and more likely to share my interests. I don't see any reason it would have had to work differently for them.
With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.

You don't? They used some rumour that he was gay to make it seem like he was a lesser candidate. If that isn't homophobia then i don't know what is.

Mr Macron said that if his wife was younger than him, nobody would question the validity of their relationship.
More like, if his wife wasn't a PAEDOPHILE nobody would question the validity of their relationship.

Let's cut the crap. The woman was in a position of power of a 15 year old boy and sexually assaulted him.

From the same site that the OP initially quoted. Last time I checked, the word "affair" has a sexual connotation, most certainly meaning a more-than-platonic relationship. So sure, not 15, but according to this article, 16.

Luckily the French have a far more relaxed attitude, towards who screws what.

Probably has something to do with it.

I get the feeling it's nearing the end of the west. The utterly petty shit that people come up with, whine about, and in general get hung up on is just so pathetic.

Read it again, he says people are calling him gay as an insult to his character which points out there is homophobia. Also if you know that people in france actually were divide on the issue of gay marriage what just recently became a thing there, you can understand how correct that comment is.

Because *gee I wonder who* ran a campaign of fake news against him during the election alleging that he had a secret gay lover.

Yep cause if it actually did took place it would have been a crime, it didn't but people on the far right lost and now as the simple minded fools they are have a need to show the world how childish they actually are. Cause that's what the right needs more of a bunch of incompetent toddlers that can't speak issues, even FN didn't bring this up as a thing.

People warned about this man beforehand.

But yeah, people were too obsessed with his opponent that they failed to notice what they did elect into office.

So in order to give more insight on the relationship and the accusation.

    - His wife is often compared to another man named Patrick Juvet who is bisexual, the comparaison is unflattering.
    - There is a persistant rumor that Macron is gay

Concerning his relation with his wife, there are a lot of things that are weird. However the more we know about their history the more it looks like actual love, and one which has been obviously been hard for everyone involved. Now I feel guilty for all the jokes I have made on the matter. Sure at first it's is really weird and scream "issue" but the more I read about it the more it seems actually normal and honest love.

Now I dislike him even more, he made me feel guilty !
Edit : Also they met when he was 15 but that does not mean they started their relationship at that moment, it was 5 years later, so easy on the pedophilia insult that do not make you a better person and can't believe accusing someone of pedophilia is not moderated here.

I honestly dont see how it matters what is his sexual preference or who is he married to.

He should not have replied to any of those comments at all, obviously just bait for the dumb crowds.

I understand what he is trying to say. Him being called secretly gay isn't much less than an attempt of disgracing him and if not then marrying someone older than him. These two things are counted as abnormal among common folk. Just have a talk with random people on the street if you don't believe it as the internet is rarely a good way of gauging it. It is rooted in cultural traditionalism and that is actually not just common to France, or even Europe, or Western cultures. Le Pen stood for these values which made her in part likeable by folk who'd otherwise reject her other notions. Macron supposedly had opposing views on this and his opponents didn't go for his views, no, they went straight for him.

Reminds me on a former Federal president we had whose wife was supposedly working as escort girl before, it was never proven but once this rumour was out it multiplied and in the end and until today a lot people believe she was literally a whore. No proofs given of course but people feel it's true still.
