Saudi Arabia is an ally of the US, one ally in a very chaotic and volatile area of the world. Are you saying the US shouldn't work with people in the area?

How unimportant does the country have to be before the US decides it can afford to follow its own morals?

There's a cost to that kind of realpolitik in disillusionment with the ideals the US claims to represent.

That's a shitton of equipment for such a sum of money, would be interesting to see the shopping list.

    I didn't realize their government sanctioned 9/11.

    It's not that simple.

How do you know this arms deal has anything to do with Yemen?

The morals of the US government should be to protect American citizens, not dictate to allied countries what their policies need to be. Would you really want China or Russia to be allies with Saudi Arabia instead?

Exactly same argument works with Russia, you know. (Only it would be "oligarchy" rather then "theocracy", but that's even closer to US anyway)

We need Saudi Arabia to arm terrorists, so we have an excuse to mess with the region.

Didn't the Saudi Crown Prince hint at a coming war with Iran and that they (SA) didn't intend to wait for it to happen on their own turf?

When a country arms itself to the teeth that suddenly (it's actually one of the biggest spenders on military hardware right now) you can bet your *ss that they are going to use it.

Except SA army's training is shit and Arabs are not known for their military prowess. Iran has a shit ton of poor man's bomb (aka missiles). Make no mistake, their missile program is quite advanced. I wish Saudis good luck with their infrastructure getting bombed into oblivion. Here I am wishing Turkey stays out of this.
