And you know... China. THe biggest military expendiature in terms of procurement is Ships and things related to the Navy. It dwarfs the Army and Air Force procurement budget by far.

And who is rapidly building up their Navy? China.
And who is not and has a rust-bucket Navy? Russia.

In a perfect world the US would have little to worry about OTHER than China. But we have Russia too in this one.

IKR? I can't talk about the shape of the Earth, but this kind of conspiracy theory gets 40+ pages! Marvelous consistency.

Perhaps at first he did, but I'm sure by now the military commanders have established some sort of unofficial backup mechanism so that their people won't launch the nukes on the authorization by the president alone.

US allies seem to be reacting to this in an expected way, which is to be extremely withdrawn while speaking to Trump regarding classified info, since he's proven that while he is legally able to share that information with anyone he wants, he lacks the intelligence to discern whether it is appropriate to do so. His actions have diminished the US in the eyes of foreign leaders, and have done nothing to benefit the country as a trade-off. It's a dumb, unforced error that could in no way serve anyone except for Trump and his ego. "What he's done is both legal, and extremely stupid" could basically describe Trump's entire life.

The US Military is far more concerned with Russia and China than it is with ISIS, and rightfully so.

You don't understand NATO spending and there are litterally 1000 pages in this forum about this. Threatened to drop it three decades ago? Crazy talk. Uttely crazy. Yes. Let's dissolve an alliance of the richest and most technologically advanced countries in the world, all of whom are Western Democracies. Because that would be smart.

Europe's military spending problem has to do with it's highly fractured defense industrial base and their individually small tax bases compared to us, which is monolithic. Of course you don't know any of this or particularly care.

    NATO isn't going anywhere.
They're years old or before the president elect. We have chiefs concerned about North Korea finding enough Monopoly money to launch a real rocket successfully. I'm taking the word of Mattis, who's beyond proven he's a man to be respected, and disagreeing with just one of his outcomes. We both agree NATO needs to be pressed hard against our allies or we pick and choose when we feel it's bad enough to help the bums. Where we disagree is that Russia is a threat because they don't comply with NATO often. Drop NATO influence and make sure the weaker (all non-US) members know their place, and I believe you'll see more cooperation with Russia. We both share a disdain for Germany trash, paying nothing in GDP compared to our spending. The UK can be pressed harder, but at least they pay more than Germany.

NATO should go somewhere, the trash.

So is this leaking information, or is this sharing information about an adversary to another group who shares that adversary? I mean... I get the fact that he probably relayed the information in a poor manner, a manner which risks outing our sources... but I think there is a difference between leaking information (which implies intention) versus sharing information about a threat to another country that would need information on that threat as well, but doing so in a poor fashion.

Turn the roles around, would we consider it bad if Russia came to us and said "we have strong intelligence on the ground that isis is attempting to get bombs on planes via laptops, we specifically heard this plot in the town of yadda-yadda, Syria"? The focus of this story, at least the title, is wrong. It should be, "Trump possibly exposes source while sharing of terrorist plot with Russia".

Of course this exposure, should be taken seriously, and he should be schooled on this. However, I do believe that the data we had SHOULD be shared with other countries to help them prepare.

More American support impeaching President Donald Trump than oppose it, a new poll shows.

The poll, the Democratic polling company Public Policy Polling, found that 48 per cent supported such a move, while 41 per cent opposed it.
The majority may support it, but the Constitution and law may have a different opinion and one which counts. At this point, the worse that will happen will be he will lose a reelection or the Democrats will regain control of Congress in 2018. That is the only realistic chances the Trump haters have. :P

    Three things:
    A) Hillarious.
    B) Of course it means nothing to the people who would actually do that. A growing number of people probably support his execution, too, doesn't mean it's supposed to happen. We need investigations, hearings, that sort of thing.
    C) Trump loves him some polls. Loves, loves, loves to hear about the ratings. I can't wait to hear about this...just before the CBO report on TrumpCare 2.0 lands on his lap. And, for good measure, it'd be fun if the Muslim Ban trials (plural) went against him. And throw in some Clapper on TV for good measure. Trump needs something to watch since Tim Allen got cancelled.

What we do know is that it was sensitive enough that the administration requested to CNN that they withhold the details due to the fact it could reveal sources and methods.

Let that rattle around in your brain for awhile.

Because it gives information about the source. Which means that this source could be extremely disinclined to give future intelligence, for fear of being put in danger. Keeping the identity of intelligence assets safe is incredibly important to the cultivation of good intelligence. If they don't think you've got their backs, they're not going to tell you shit.
