It is the definition of false equivalency. You are trying to make the claim that since they are both dangerous tools that they should be treated the same. They are not equivalent. From the information I could find (US Fire Administration website), there are around 3300 fire deaths in the US annually. And ovens probably account for a small number of these when you factor in other causes (electrical, other appliances, open flames, fireplaces, falling asleep with cigarettes, etc). I'd think a generous number would be 10%, but it's probably much lower in reality. So we'll say 330 annually? Originally Posted by purebalance

I think it's safe to say guns accidentally kill more people than ovens.
