And that's counter to the app having a large single main thread due to serialization how?

    That's not CPU limited.

How is it not? MMOs having a large serialized main thread means that you're limited the raw core strength (typically speed and IPC). You can argue that 80% utilization of a core means the CPU isn't the limiting factor and that it's instead the way the program uses the CPU. In either case, the hanging point to gaining more performance is the CPU, so most people consider that CPU limited.

Exactly, I would argue that in the described case (single core not reaching 100% load and other cores not completely idle) there is a pattern (that I've seen before on Ryzen) of how core workload balancing works. Not gonna argue that serialization probably does take place (it's a MMO afterall, those are usually optimized for a mass user, which is 2 cores right now), but on the other hand I havent seen 100% core loads on my i7 either.

You can easily get 2k higher score if you OC your GPU and CPU properly, check the first page.

How high of a OC are you running on that CPU?

You get allmost 2000 more points then me with the same CPU?. mine is running at 4.4GHz.

You run with a 980ti and i use a 1070 OC, wich should be much faster then the 980ti

He is using "preset 1" not maximum.

I didn't explicitly state people should be using "fullscreen, 1080p, maximum" settings, didnt think i had to as it was listed right on the post lol.

As an aside i went up to a group of people in dalaran today and asked them what FPS and on what settings they were getting, i was higher than all of them and the guy who had the closest to me was running a 6600k, same 7 preset. Either his PC is runnin like crap or ryzen does better in WoW than people give it credit for. I bet its same story for ffxiv, lots of stuff you cant account for with a benchmark.

I am running on maximum settings. It's just a preset that I saved and didn't change the name if you look at the actually settings and not just the preset name.

Well it is all max settings. My CPU is at 4.7. And the reason my 980ti is beating a 1070 is my card is underwater and it's overclocked to 1560mhz with the memory at 4000mhz. (8000 effective)
