Legendary Gold needs a buff

Just to keep it short and simple, legendary gold's amount made sense when all legendary skins were 1600 gold. Now that basically 99.9% of every new skin release is 3000 gold, it really feels like a slap in the face to get so little gold as a legendary, same for a duplicate legendary skin.

Only event skins during the event are 3k gold. That was the compromise they made after the summer games when you couldn't buy the new stuff at all. Outside of those special event legendaries, all others are still their original cost.

That said, I'm not opposed to event legendary dupes giving more gold since they also cost most. That makes sense to me.

But realistically, only a small percentage of legendaries you can get/buy at a given point in time will cost 3k.

The 500 Gold from the legendary box is pretty fine imo but I do think the gold you get for dupes should be the same amount as a gold box and dupe event skins should probably give an increased amount, which would be 1500g if they were to go that route but 1k for en event dupe would be fine even as that would be enough to buy a basic legendary skin.

I agree dupe event legendaries should give more, if for no other reason than to make it easier to buy the skins you want asap instead of waiting until the end of an event so you don't even up wasting 2750g. I want my mechahanzo now damnit!

Letting people buy event cosmetics was already enough of a compromise Blizz had to give as a result of all the complaining they received. It's unlikely we could expect much more as doing that would simply decrease the number of lootboxes Blizz is able to sell even further.

Duplicate legendaries, I feel, should reward the same amount as a legendary box. I'd be fine with an event duplicate not being increased beyond that, if they made that shift.

Honestly, I usually have more gold than I know what to do with. I bought the new Lucio skin when the anniversary hit, and a bunch of dances, and I'm down below 2k again. But most events, I've had plenty to buy whatever event skin most tickled my fancy, right out of the gate. I just think the "Wheee, legendary" happiness is a bit let down when it's just 200 gold.

True but when you consider that the event skins get locked and become unpurchasable, and that all of the new skins have been tied to a limited-time event and cost 3x the normal amount, getting 500g seems like a waste of a Legendary drop to me.

If I could at least still buy some of the skins that are now locked, I would be okay with receiving so little because I'd have plenty of time to save up. As it stands, there are skins from every holiday I wish I could get but I didn't roll it and I never got the funds while the event was going on.

Or worse yet, I bought one skin I wanted and then proceeded to roll it in my very next box, only to get a measly 200g refund or whatever it is. Not fun.

What needs to be fixed is the lootbox purchasing system.

When you spend real money in game they should just give you flat out ingame currency to get what you want rather than it all being RNG. Could spend $50 and get all duplicates, and in doing so still not get enough ingame coins for more than maybe one legendary at 1000g.

Lootboxes should be rewards for leveling and whatnot still, but the SHOP should just be flat currency purchases.

I agree it's a huge disparity. It causes a situation in which even though you might have enough gold for several of the new 3k legendary skins, you don't want to buy any of them until the very last day because if you get it from a Loot Box in the meantime, you've essentially thrown away 2800 gold.

They are actually planning to do that in China, although the boxes will still be the main driver. In order to skirt the rules making them disclose how boxes work, people just get solid currency instead with a box as a "bonus". Would be kind of nice to at least have that option here.

Ehh it's not really the same. You get like 250g when you buy the 50 boxes in the shop. They are really only doing it there to skirt around some Chinese laws.

Since I usually don't have much time to play I've pretty much bought most loot boxes as I wouldn't be able unlock time-limited event items otherwise.

The drop rates are absolutely atrocious though and since the insurrection event I decided to not patronize Overwatch because it doesn't feel like I'm getting my money's worth whatsoever. I loath this gacha style of transaction in games and if I wanted to gamble I would go to a casino.

Normally legendary are just 1000 so 200 makes sense

for the new events they go up to 3000 for the brand new ones

so for brand new ones during events, it should be 600 for duplicates

Your problem isn't the loot box system, your problem is that you want things for a game you don't have the time or inclination to invest time in. Why you would sink real money to get things for a game you don't have time to play is beyond me especially since they will be back the following year when you may have more time.

I play about 6 hours all week and I always get enough gold coins to get things that I really want and if I don't get them I know in a year I will still be playing so it is no big deal. I'm sitting on 8.7k right now in gold waiting for the last day of the event before buying 3 skins I want just incase it drops in a loot box over the next two days.

I am interested in getting these skins but it's no big deal if I don't get them. I am very interested in playing though, spending real money in a game I can't play or don't want to play to get a pixelized t-shirt seems rediculous and it's more of a bad decision on your part than a bad business decision to offer that option to all players who don't share your circumstances.

If they constantly added new regular legendaries I would be fine with it, but when was the last time we got new regular skins, the 2 Reinhardt skins?
All the new stuff has been from events that just goes away and is x3 the price.
