Sorry but South Korea and Canada are first world developed countries. As I understand, Canada is even in the top 10 GDP 2016... South Korea was 11.. Both ahead of Australia and Russia. I think that puts them as a bit more than 'developed'

All civilians should have access to firearms including automatics. Noone should get to dictate what other people do with them. Gun laws only protect the stupid, watch the amount of stupid people drop when we start to loosen our gun laws and then the gun shootings will get lower.

Well maybe not automatic weapons cause if someone who has those flips, they can get a lot of people killed. Besides for self defense including protection against the government going fascist, it not yet needed.

That being said, civilians should absolutely have access to firearms. For self defense.. as they're a great equalizer of people. For example, a strong male rapist attacking a woman. Or a couple of fit thugs breaking into someones home. The cops cant be everywhere nor are they held responsible if you get hurt, robbed, raped or even killed by criminals. Put guns into the mix and it changes things. Everyone could be armed, you have to think twice before trying any of that cause you could get shot.

A reason why no one truely invades America is because have guns. Not only would they have to fight our military they have to deal w/ civilian ran militias, civilians, local law enforcement and gangs. Although I ghink gbe gangs would have more of a negative impact with territory being lost. But America needs its weapons, for now.

I agree that civs shouldn't have access to anything above handguns, unless they're trained specialists like SWAT or ex-military. Not even regular police officers should have access to them.

No single country on earth is free from doing fucked up shit, just like how people aren't perfect, countries are neither.

Hunting and practice shooting are legitimate reasons to own guns and requiring proof of such intent (proving to be a part of a hunting club for example) would not be at all unreasonable. Also psychological screening so that the worst wackos can be left without guns. Similar requirements are in effect in certain other parts of the world (i.e. not USA because that's obviously what all the people here assume everyone is from) and they seem to work fine, not restricting access to guns with a valid reason to own one but not ending up in a situation where every other person is carrying.
