I often wonder if "divide and conquer" tactics were used to separate the supposed "99%" into smaller groups based on gender, sex, sexuality, race, etc for easier control by the government. Is that no more than a conspiracy or did the Occupy Wall Street just disperse because it wasn't effective or because people opted to focus in on issues that affected them more as individuals? What do you guys think happened to Occupy Wall Street and what are your opinions of it in hindsight?
Wall Street bitched at the Obama Admin. So with the help of the Justice Dept, major cities crushed the momentum they were quickly building, and now they are quietly manageable sedate little affairs.

The way I remember it was more " You guys imploded the economy got bailed out, no one went to jail for it and little people got screwed". The occupy wall street movement was a reaction to how messed up the financial crisis was and people on the left and the right did everything to make them go away. Obama takes the bulk of the blame here him and his justice department bent over and let wall street get away with it, too big to fail too big to jail.

They lacked leadership and direction so they fizzled out and accomplished nothing.

Nothing. Lol. What did you expect? Some teens telling generations of art to stop? What a stupid thing to do. Everything the occupy movement did was well in the room of capitalism - they were like programmed beings to do what they did. Just to continue what we have. hahaha.

*sigh* People hate Obama but have no problem supporting his policy

Revealed: how the FBI coordinated the crackdown on Occupy
Verheyden-Hilliard points out the close partnering of banks, the New York Stock Exchange and at least one local Federal Reserve with the FBI and DHS, and calls it "police-statism":
the nationwide scope of the FBI's surveillance, monitoring, and reporting on peaceful protestors organizing with the Occupy movement … These documents also show these federal agencies functioning as a de facto intelligence arm of Wall Street and Corporate America."

I've been tempted to write a thread asking "What happened to Trump hiring a special prosecutor for Hillary?"

I mean, seriously - in the length of time it takes to type out a 3am twit - he can start preliminary setup for Hillary having a special prosecutor, and yet he absolutely does not do it.

I mean, c'mon Dumpsters - what's the reason? Didn't he promise you that in his debate? Didn't you cheer and chant "Lock her up!" when he kept telling you how bad you were to believe the nasty democrat was to be?

So... what's stopping him? Why hasn't he filed for one yet? It takes just a few seconds, and - shit - he could take then next 30 seconds to say "I looked into it" or something... but yet he does nothing.

So, Dummy Dum-Dum Donnie supporters, what is your excuse for your God-king not doing what he promised?

It's not about equal pay. It's about why are we specifically giving one group of people the power to print money whereas everyone else is expected to actually work for it.

This is what is insane about talking about welfare moms or universal healthcare or whatever else - the means are there, the really wasteful expenditures are in dumb shit like bank bailouts (instead of prison sentences), military spending, government waste, tax incentives to huge corporations, etc.

That mom scamming a little extra something for the brood is not a problem, offshore tax dodges for most major corporations is the problem.

It was full of people who didn't want jobs and wanted the government to cater to their insecurities. All they did was protest but did nothing to better themselves. I can say that because my cousin who worked with a company in the NYC version of occupy offered some of these people a shot at working and they all didn't show up. So at that moment it was doomed to fail. The only thing it produced if their can be credit given was sanders though reality wise he was a senator way before that nonsense.
Side note: this was probably the only time in which I hoped obama would step in and shut them up.

I actually think the real problem is that many Americans are so fucking braindead that it actually allows for these contests between two evils where we all must hold our noses and vote for the least offensive political asshole. I'd say Hillary was the least offensive asshole between her and Trump because Trump is really just a con artist, but I don't particularly like Hillary and was disappointed that Sanders didn't get nominated instead. I consider the Clintons to be too far right and outrageously hawkish, altogether despicable.

Americans need to wise up and realize that precise way that the U.S. is different from more sophisticated hybrid economy-socialist countries as one see in Europe, Canada, and even throughout South America will be our undoing. At this point the U.S. is the offshore wealth hiding place for people from other places. People come to the U.S. to vacation cheaply. They buy property and invest here. They've largely taken over.

In short, they've already made the U.S. into a third world type country. Many of you keep voting the people that did this into office. And I can tell you that those people will not be living nor retiring to gated communities in the U.S. - they fully expect to retire to places like Dubai, far away from where physical threats to them would have meaning.

I sometimes joke that the Hamptons is not a defensible position. But it's a joke. The key operatives will not be staying on. When things get truly grim, they will be far away.

Your reading of the situation is fantastically ignorant.

One of the fundamental concerns of Occupy was how economies all over the world were largely destroyed in 2007-2008, and are still being destroyed in almost the exact same way, but that nothing was or is being done about it. Some one guy was prosecuted in a situation where the corruption is clearly systemic and only possible because of radical deregulation of the banking and investing industries involving protections that actually existed before and were later done away with (Glass–Steagall and other regulatory efforts).

Some of you seem to assume a kind of anarchistic attitude on the part of the protestors. Far from it, the protestors were basically demanding that our laws against what took place actually be enforced.

Asking that fraud be prosecuted is not exactly a radical notion.

They didn't fade away. They were crushed.
Amazing how Obama fans and Wall Street "conservatives" are both towing the same line of ridicule How does it feel to be on the same side? (Oh, you guys were always on the same side, you were all in denial about it though. And I dare say you all will still try to deny it) Both sides trying to deny the effect they had, probably because they were a group that was actually effective at the one thing no other group has ever been in recent memory; scaring the hell out of big business.

...Then go make a thread asking that question, rather than making a useless post to whine about Trump and Trump supporters in a thread about OWS. Literally none of your comment has anything to do with the OP's question.

You sound a little too obsessed. It's pretty cringey tbh.
