Sure, I understand he was making a larger point in the article about perhaps even more important stuff. I was pulling that quote out of context because it's a scary thing to me that it's acceptable to expect numerous blatant lies and we just have to deal with them as part of the administration.

My guess at what happened is Trump Jr and his associates aren't really in the know with the Trump campaign. Somehow these Russians who probably are only tangentally attached to the government got word of the foreign money going in to the election and thought they could use it as a bargaining chip. They probably didn't have direct communication with anyone who knew more about it, so they figured it would be a thing that the opponents could be accused of.
They met with JR who doesn't know what's going on and thought this is something his dad could use. Kushner and Manafort went because "Oh god what do they know about the foreign money coming in, we might be in deep shit". And quickly shut the whole thing down going "THIS IS NOTHING PLEASE DONT DIG DEEPER ABOUT FOREIGN MONEY COMING IN AND BEING LAUNDERED IN NEW YORK REAL-ESTATE".
Now Jr., who knows very little of the big picture is allowing light to be shined on the meeting and I bet Manafort and Kushner are sweating bullets.

Nah, doesn't track. If they were worried about the meeting, they could have just told him to cancel it, and even if they couldn't... well, Manafort was apparently not paying attention and Kushner left early. That's not what you do when you're trying to keep someone from incriminating your organization.

But this was all about adoption, right?

I love analogies more than most people, but a crab thrown in a pot of water instantly dies. What's happening to FOX News is slower, more painful, more embarrassing, and has a lot more sexual harrassment.

Oh please, some left-wing nutjob who can't holy shit that's the National Review. OUCH.
You're probably thinking about the myth that a frog in a pot wont jump out if you raise the temperature slowly, until he finally dies. It's a myth.
It was started, because a scientist tried it, and in fact some frogs remained in the pot, but they were partially or fully lobotomized.

So We've gone from Trump Jr met some lawyer about adoption to Trum Jr and 8 other people met to get information from the Russian government in exchange for lifting sanctions, and probably took said information. Lowly times, these are."Veselnitskaya brought with her a plastic folder with printed-out documents that detailed what she believed was the flow of illicit funds to the Democrats, Akhmetshin said. Veselnitskaya presented the contents of the documents to the Trump associates and suggested that making the information public could help the campaign, he said.
“This could be a good issue to expose how the DNC is accepting bad money,” Akhmetshin recalled her saying.
Trump Jr. asked the attorney if she had sufficient evidence to back up her claims, including whether she could demonstrate the flow of the money. But Veselnitskaya said the Trump campaign would need to research it more. After that, Trump Jr. lost interest, according to Akhmetshin.
“They couldn’t wait for the meeting to end,” he said.
Akhmetshin said he does not know if Veselnitskaya’s documents were provided by the Russian government. He said he thinks she left the materials with the Trump associates. "

Welp, their attempts to hide behind the Secret Service didn't last long. Secret Service isn't putting up with that bullshit.
You have absolutely NO evidence that the documents were passed on. All you have is your speculation - opined as an absolute:
This is what makes us Trumpkins laugh the most. The conclusions some of you so readily jump to.Akhmetshin said he does not know if Veselnitskaya’s documents were provided by the Russian government. He said he thinks she left the materials with the Trump associates. It was unclear if she handed the documents to anyone in the room or simply left them behind, he said.
