    A problem of culture

Guys, there is all this talk of how to "fix WoW," when the game itself isn't even a problem in a lot of ways now.

All they need to do now, is to return class buffs, and some other things like that, such as say reforging for example, and the game will be fine OK, I assure you.

The BIGGEST problem that the game has though, is the culture of our community.

To be delusional, entitled, hateful, trolling, etc. has no shit become PERFECTLY FINE to MOST of you in this community.

It is the giant elephant in the room OK, and I am tired of not talking about it, I really am.

No, not everyone is a winner OK, and not everyone is clever either!!! Hater trolls who get hulk smashed into dust by me in 2 seconds ARE NOT CLEVER OK!!!

Clearly by acting like they are winners and clever, we as humans have messed things up here on Earth very badly.

You are lying to people if you tell them that everyone is a winner, since that simply isn't true.

So now we have this community of petty, delusional, hateful, trolls, who like ALL think they are the best lol!!!

No, I alone am the best player for PvP, since that's how it is in REALITY OK!!!

That is where so many of you are messing up OK, which is choosing to ignore reality, and continuing to believe that being a slanderous, hateful, troll is cool.

NO, IT'S NOT COOL OR CLEVER TO BE A HATER TROLL!!!

    CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW???

If our culture doesn't change guys, then we will NEVER see a golden age of WoW.

I assumed that idiocracy would just naturally end as the game became more hardcore, but now I realize just how fucking delusional many of you are.

Until our culture changes, and we stop enabling delusional, entitled behavior, things likely will never become better in this way.

Jaylock sorta had a point about the "biggest problem with WoW is you" thing, but he is CLEARLY a troll himself, and you just can't fix this problem with the same level of consciousness that created it.

Do you really want to fix WoW Blizzard???

Then I would suggest you do everything you can to encourage your players to NOT be petty, hateful, delusional, trolls.

And to you other players out there, I just wanted to say that I knew the WHOLE DAMN TIME how idiotic trolling is, and you guys have a lot of catching up to do now, you REALLY do OK.....

100% factual. I just don't understand how so many do low dps, that is the biggest problem in WoW.

You may actually be right lol!!!

This will depend on Blizzard, and what they do now.

They have the potential to make the game better than ever, the only question is will they do what they need to in order to achieve that.

I don't understand what I just read, is English not your native language? Also writing this post while calling others delusional is rather funny.

Emphasis on this community. Find yourself a nice cozy guild to do everything with and stop dealing with pugs if you can't handle the shenanigans that come with dealing with total randos from the interwebs.

I was perfectly able to understand what point the OP is trying to convey.

Unfortunately, the "edgy" or "witty" replies to this thread fuel his point. Although I think the issue stems less from overall toxic behavior and more-so "lulz" behavior.

Toxicity in gaming will always be a thing do to the anonymity that playing online games and posting on forums goes with. There are people who are not like that and have their fair share of stirring the pot "for the lulz"

    It shows in these replies:
    - images instead of actual replies that convey a certain emotion, ie: "triggered" to get a laugh out of people reading, if not only the poster
    - the typical "bad day?" responses
    - "wtf did I just read" or "is this english?" responses to convey a false sense of misunderstanding

Now, I don't think there is anything innately wrong these kind of responses. Certain topics warrant them, regardless of grammatical issues. Ironically, people responding in a manner that supports OP's point "for the lulz" simply just justifies his feelings - and the feelings of many online players - towards an arguably serious topic.

Troll thread detected. You post about such behavior and respond in a similar manner.

WoW has always had the worst community of any MMO out there.

    Not going to change now.

Every single thing you've complained about has been going on for 12 years, the best thing you can do is get over it and ignore it. Make your own community in the game and turn off trade chat.

Lol, it's Magus again, the one who's better than everyone else in this game lol

I wasn't kidding about trying to understand the OP's point, he just does a terrible job at conveying it himself paired with looking like a troll himself. If he posted something similar to yours it would be a different ball game.

It's hard to interpret your posts and take you seriously when you act like those you criticize, how I came off as a troll is beyond me but please do continue.

I am a better player than you are for PvP (which is the true endgame), and I am a more intelligent human being as well!!!

You know how I know I am more intelligent???

ITS BECAUSE YOU ARE A DAMN HATER, AND HATERS AREN'T INTELLIGENT LIKE ME YO!!!

I said this better than anyone ever has, and I truly nailed what is wrong with both WoW and it's community.

But here is the thing lol, by doing this, I have called your hater self out, and you won't like it!!!

THIS IS TRUE FOR PROBABLY AT LEAST 90% OF YOU OK!!!

THAT IS THE POINT OF THIS THREAD GUYS!!!

YOU NEED A REALITY CHECK THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF YOU GUYS ARE HATER TROLLS!!!

    CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW???

It's not really an elephant in the room when it's addressed on a regular basis, to the point of becoming something of an in-joke within the wider MMO community. Nearly everyone who's heard of WoW has also heard about how the community's roughly comparable to the unspeakable horror you find lurking inside an old, half-rusted septic tank that's been abandoned in the middle of nowhere for a good thirty years. When people discuss toxic online communities, the top three that most point to are XBLA, WoW, and LoL. So it's not some big secret or a taboo subject people awkwardly dance around to avoid ruffling feathers (seriously, there's no feather this forum has left un-ruffled over the game's almost-15-year lifespan).

And contrary to what some curmudgeons here will tell you, it wasn't random queues that brought on the downward spiral. It was the total joke of a penalty volcano that poor behavior invited. I could go on a racist tirade in Trade for the better part of an hour and all it'll win me is a three-hour time out. Three hours later, I could log back in and discuss the virtues of Apartheid and the Armenian genocide and all I'll get is another three hours to think about the next rant I'll go on. At worst I'll end up with a week off, but I can say for damn sure I have yet to hear of anyone who was permabanned from the game over abusive or outright racist trolling. Similarly, Blizzard has, at best, a hands-off approach to trolling where I can spawn a mammoth atop an important quest NPC, or spawn items with collision detection in front of raid portals to block access, and again, all that will happen is a brief time-out and a stern talking-to that amounts to a slap on the wrist.

Even back in the so-called halcyon days of server communities, people could pretty much get away with murder if they were a tank or healer in a moderately-progressed guild; their guild wouldn't bring the hammer down on their behavior for fear of losing a good tank/healer and the official penalty volcano is as stiff as a light breeze in the summer, which does little to nothing to discourage consistently-antisocial behavior in public channels.
Be seeing you guys on Bloodsail Buccaneers NA!
