They have been living under these conditions for so long that i would not expect that the majority would actually see outsiders freeing them from that regime as liberators, there is also the problem of succession, who would lead such a nation that would without a doubt be divided.

This is the single largest problem when it comes to North Korea. It's not the Kim, it's not the military. It's the dozens of millions who've been brainwashed into worshipping the Kim so much that they're probably willing to throw themselves under trains for him. Thus, doing something as simple as assassinating the Kim (as many have suggested) would in fact be the worst possible move. It would make their god into a martyr. Look at what the Christians did to the Roman Empire when their god was turned into a martyr.

Personally, I don't think bombings will do it, nor any assassinations. Sure, you could nuke the fuck out of the country, but, erm, I don't think slaughtering millions of civilians is in anyone's interest. My personal opinion is that Seoul should be evacuated, and then an invasion of North Korea should take place. A full invasion and occupation.

This is not a surprise. As far as China is concerned, when it comes to economic factor, SK is worth a lot more than NK. China & NK trade is limited to coal & minerals, and China's businessmen taking advantage of cheap labor in NK (textile, etc.). On the other hand, China has a Free Trade Agreement with SK dating back to November 2014. China and SK trade is now worth more than 300b annually. It is projected to lift SK's GDP by 1% in the next 10 years and China's GDP by 0.3% in the same time frame. Currently China and SK just started negotiation to remove service sector barriers.

China also views this FTA as a stepping stone to China-Japan-SK trilateral FTA which is huge, and a building block in the RCEP negotiation which will include the 10 ASEAN member countries, and Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan and South Korea.
