Why does game of thrones call their wyverns dragons? Do they not know the difference?

Think a lot of people wouldn't know what a wyvern is, so they went with dragons.
"Dragon" is clearly the Westeros word for Wyvern.
We only specify between the two as they're different fantasy creatures. I'd imagine in a world with real Wyverns, you wouldn't need to make the distinction; dragons with 4 legs would just be said to be dragons drawn wrongly.
BASIC CAMPFIRE for WARCHIEF UK Prime Minister!
Hmm, well, the Game of Thrones universe has been tailored a bit.
Wyverns are by the people who wrote the Wiki, not able to spout fire. While Dragons are.
Then again, you have to look at it from a human - unknowing person - a Wyrm, Wyvern, Dragon, drake etc. etc. Would most likely come out as a 'dragon'.
FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..
because a wyvern is a dragon, but not all dragons are wyverns.
There's no hard and fast definition for "Dragon". In some classifications, wyverns are a type of dragon.
And the player character in Skyrim is not " The Wyvernborn".
Meanwhile, back on Azeroth, the overwhelming majority of the orcs languished in internment camps. One Orc had a dream. A dream to reunite the disparate souls trapped under the lock and key of the Alliance. So he raided the internment camps, freeing those orcs that he could, and reached out to a downtrodden tribe of trolls to aid him in rebuilding a Horde where orcs could live free of the humans who defeated them so long ago. That orc's name was... Rend.
Because both world and creature are made up and can be called whatever the fuck the author wants to call them.
Because Wyvern is another name for Dragon that only some very specific and pedantic people separate between. Most people see "Wyvern" "Drake" "Dragon" etc as the exact same thing. Including most writers of fantasy when it comes down to it. And most artist who draw shit inspired by fantasy.
Then some highly pedantic people go and create separate categories of what constitutes which for some strange reason.
Aka, there isn't a real difference. Only a made up one by different communities. Looking at different sources will give you different results for what is which.

I can't believe people really get so worked up over dragons with two legs vs wyverns.
What material difference does it make? None at all.
Me not that kind of Orc!
Actually u are all wrong.
The Author already stated, that after contacting biospecialists they realised if dragons were to exist they wouldn't have "mediveal" 4 legs + 2 wings, but 2 hands and 2 legs like pterodactyls.
The wyverns are actually DIFFERENT creatures in GoT, they live in the jungle continent of Sothoryos.
Do some research about the universe before u write, please.
Quotations for idiots:
"According to The World of Ice & Fire, the regions to the south of the northern coast (i.e. below the point where the provided maps end) are known as the Green Hell, and are reputed to be the domain of multiple tropical species not found in Westeros or Essos including basilisks, vampire bats, tattooed lizards, giant snakes, spotted spiders, King Kong-sized giant apes, and winged dragon-like creatures known as "wyverns". "
What about dragons with no legs?
.
"This will be a fight against overwhelming odds from which survival cannot be expected. We will do what damage we can."
-- Capt. Copeland
for the public who don't know what is the difference ahah.
