I guess there will be no more Light-Infused Illidan.

No, Illidan simply refused to have someone else dictate his destiny.

Good thing too, because the "Holy Anti-Hero" thing it was dumb enough when Starcraft did it.

Good, now we are not sure if Velen/Anduin prophecy is also a bullshit. They had too strong plot armor before that.

No, they still have their plot armor.
The whole idea about Holydan was from a vision, it's likely that X'era has been lying to us all along after seeing this cinematic.

Because she thought she'd be able to turn Illidan into a being of light, but failed to do so, and thus failed miserably.

Plot armour is not a thing and has never been a thing.

There is no chosen one - only the 5-10 million players who keep the game running. :P

This is going to sound profoundly ignorant... but here it goes.

    Who is Mr. Rugged Paladin?

I guess being trapped in with Sargeras and the Pantheon for eternity is a much better destiny then?

Copying the end of Wrath of the Lich King isn't much better than copying Kerrigan becoming a god.

    That would be Turalyon.

Legendary hero of the Alliance back during the Second War, went to Draenor with Alleria and others, eventually stayed there when the Dark Portal was closed and has been leading (I guess) the Army of Light for a while now.

If only my DH's Eye Beam could one shot Naaru...

OT: I much prefer this arc than the Holydan, Redeemed Illidan.
Ideally no one has ever hit the level cap of the last expansion, looked at their dungeon blues, and thought "I win."

I love this story point, why? Well Illidan could have had everything he ever originally wanted, his holy destiny, a chance to be greater than Malfurian, but at the cost of being a slave to X'era. Instead, he stood by his actions, accepting the consequences for everything he's ever done, on the basis he know his path may not be right, but it is what he has done.
For the Alliance, and for Azeroth!

    Compared to Holydan, yes.

Copying the end of Wrath of the Lich King isn't much better than copying Kerrigan becoming a god.
It copying the end of Wrath would entail Sargeras dying and Illidan having to step in as the lord of the Burning Legion. As the datamining has shown, neither thing will happen.
