I have a champion and a troop, and success chance is 175%. I add another champion, and my success chance Drops 15%?

Look at your bonuses.
Your first two guys give like +80% chance to missions OVER 8 hours. You add another champion that counters the silence, which means the duration falls from 16 to 8 hours, so the items that give +success chance to missions over 8 hours no longer work

Certain classes have followers that do better on missions with no other champion. I think DKs and warriors off the top of my head. Read your champion's traits.

over 8 hours buffs have to be 9+ hours, 8 doesnt count.

It's the mission duration. Changed from 16 hours down to 8 hours and you lost the "over 8 hours +% chance" buffs.

well, >= 8h1m you mean...which can and does happen when you use mission reduction buffs

80% increase on missions over 8 hours
adding the other lowers it to 8 hours, therefore you lose those bonuses
