ANy time you have a food good that is not up to standards, contact the manufacturer. Most times it will result in free stuff. IE a flat can of soda will turn into a 12 pack or a 24 pack.

It can be as simple as packaging that is printed poorly, or a double wrapped candy, or getting 3 of something when you should have had 2 in a package(poptart), it will also likely result in free goods.

Cameras aren't the issue. It's STORING the shit that is the issue. It's a matter of numbers. Your phone probably takes pictures in the neighborhood of 3 megabytes per still image. Now multiply that by, say, 20 frames per second, for one minute of footage. 3,600 megs. 5,184,000 megs for one day of footage. That's FIVE TERABYTES of data for a single day of footage. Now Imagine that you need to store probably at least 2 weeks worth of footage top make sure your ass is covered. Now additionally imagine that you, say, are like the theater I work in, and have somewhere around 25 cameras functioning in your building. You honestly think anyone has the budget for recording 1750 Terabytes of video footage just so you can watch people on the security playback in high def?

So? If I decide they suck at their job, just like a waitress/waiter, I am not going to tip them (buy a home from them), I don't care how much time they already invested in me.

That's the risk of choosing to work for commissions/tips or any wage that isn't negotiated for upfront - someone might not like your work and you won't get paid after doing it.

YOU are more important than anyone else. If you don't let yourself get burned, you'll live a great and happy life.

If you forget this, you're chance to live ends the moment you get burned. YOU are more important than anyone else, everything in existence is just a persuasive argument so you can't be right or wrong when you've learned enough, so until you've learned enough, just shit everyone else out forever because they're trying to fucking hurt or kill you.

Fuck everyone else to death. If anyone in this thread has some shitty moral story or is trying to teach you some dumb moral shit like don't just books by their covers (DO that, it's easier and works 99% of the time) they're just trying to hurt you and laugh at you. There are no such things, the only answer is YOU.

Fucking kill them all to death. Fuck them all to death painfully forever. Those damn shits.

Ok, here's the hot advice for customer service lines in the US. When they want you to say stuff so the machine can filter you, just say "customer service" and you'll be put through to a representative instantly. Best shortcut ever. Do it right after she starts speaking. Don't wait for her to finish, the machine is always listening.

Oh, and when you have your customer number, don't start the whole "what's your name" bullshit, just give her the customer number. She'll find it much faster that way and depending on your name and spelling difficulties, it will be a lot faster. They'll still want to hear you say your name to verify that they got the right account, but this way they can read it off their screen and you don't need to spell anything.

And for Europeans that prefer to do bank transfers. Ask if they accept that. No US company really promotes it, but a lot of them still know how a bank works. You just have to ask for it specifically. Depending on the price, it can be cheaper to pay a transaction fee than 1-2% credit card charge.

This is so true, a friend working in a car seller experienced something similar, a "Huaso" (cowboy) did enter a day looking rather shabby, no one helped him for like 10 min, my friend was still attending a customer, wile other employees were free to help, once the other customer left he went and asked him if he needed help, turns out the Huaso was rich and did buy 4 pickups and other car model, my friend got lucky because the others diden't help the guy

That is the ONLY option for a realtor, ALL realtors. It isn't a choice.

If they are absolutely terrible, yeah, it does make sense to leave them. But if you try to stiff them on the commission by going around them to buy a house (you won't escape the commission price that way either, so it doesn't help anyone) after working with them through the rest of the process, then it is essentially the same as saying that their work is worthless to you.

    It's a choice to be a realtor.

Studying history and philosophy, dogmatism is the source of nearly all man made suffering. What you believe is far less important than how strongly you believe in it. It is literally better to believe something bad but not believe in it strongly than to believe in something good so strongly that you would put that belief ahead of everything else in your life.

As IT for a large state agency the advice I give is:

    1. Turn the PC off and then back on first. 9/10 the problem is fixed.
If the problem is a printer, turn it off and on as well.

    2. If a web page or a web based app is not working, try another browser (preferably chrome unless you need java support then Internet Explorer 11 /shudder).

    3. Don't click email links from senders you do not know, be careful clicking links even from people you do know! If an email looks phishy, it probably is. Normally lack of sender contact info is a good indicator.

Your numbers are so far off as to be laughable. Video (security) cameras don't use still images. You are forgetting about H.264 or other compression. Bandwidth is on the order of 120-180 Kbps. The system I used to run also had video analytics that didn't actually record the video to disk if there was no motion. We easily stored footage from 60 cameras for a month on a smallish raid array. (20 TB IIRC) Most of the cameras ran at 1080p.

Also, if the printer continues to have issues after that, just throw it out and never look back.

Printers are designed by Satan, and no one likes them.

... then skip to the 17 second mark to see how this scene is actually made:

    Not so awesome anymore, eh?

The reason for this skullduggery is to limit load times. You don't want a load bar for the splash screen of a game. So this scene is literally just a few set pieces that happen to be visible from this precise angle. But if this technique works for the splash screen, why not use it everywhere? They do. Everyone does. The principle of 3D graphics is literally:
"Cheating is better than making it properly."
I also work in this field, well, game design to be more precise but I used to make art as well.
This is 100% true, but around here we didn't say "Cheating is better than making it properly." We said "Cheating IS making it properly." Only results count, not so much how you get there.

(And, in total, several days to a few weeks of work at a rate you'd bill within a company itself.)
Have it done by a specialized contractor, and you'd probably be looking more at 1/4 million at best. Not exactly in the realm of a small to mid sized business that doesn't operate in a traditionally security-heavy (or even -centric) sector. And those figues don't even include the cameras and their installation and the rather hefty networking infrastructure it would require. Those things will push the costs to a double or triple, even if no longer distances are in play. (Crossing a road alone with a properly secured and stable enough 10GB/s network is in the ten thousands. The routers alone will eat $2k+ a pop.)

So yeah, what you're so non-chalantly comparing to is quite likely a rather top-notch security installation at a rather sensitive site of a rather well faring larger corporation. Not the kind you'll ever see at some clothing store or a road-side diner. Not even a larger gas station or even a mid-sized best buy.
I feel like this is getting pretty far off topic for the thread, but I'll toss in a final response.

Honestly, not all that impressive of an installation - it was a medium sized University in the US. It was installed over several years, but I doubt the aggregate HW/SW cost exceeded $100k. Search on Amazon for 20TB NAS units and Axis cameras and visit with Aimetis for the software. Toss in a few low powered servers and you are good to go. Those parts aren't nearly as expensive as you seem to think. No need for 10 GB networking, standard Gig E is fine. Yes, contractors are expensive and so is paying people to maintain and monitor the system. Those costs over 5 years greatly exceeded the HW/SW costs.

But the point of my first post was that the cost wasn't anywhere close to what an almost 2 petabyte array would cost. I priced one of those out a few years ago in the millions of dollars.

Obligatory Secret: PCI-DSS certification is mostly a consulting scam and a way to pass risk on to other people than a true security framework. If your business does < $1,000,000 per year, its probably not worth it.
