I highly doubt we will see a World of warcraft 2 they don't need to really do that.. now the only thing they do need to do is upgrade the graphics engine that is very easily doable no real need for a complete new game altogether cause it would mean everyone starting from scratch and people would not and refuse to want to do so.

I think it's unlikely they'd drop WoW immediately after updating caster animations. (still haven't released some yet)

I don't think they'd have bothered with updating the character models if WoW 2 was in their near-future plans.

I would bet my eternal soul we won't see WoW 2 being announced at Blizzcon this year. Mark it down, boys.

.... it is not very easily doable. Oh my god do you have any idea what you're actually suggesting? It's... my brain hurts trying to think about the amount of work to rebuild WoW's game engine in any manner, much less gutting the main functions of the graphical engine to replace it... It's not like a VW bug where you pop open the trunk, unscrew some bolts, haul it out, reseat the new one, and go from there. It's vastly more interconnected with the different sections of the "Actual" game.

    It's essentially inextricable.

hmm, giving how badly WoD went without knowing that Legion will work out so well they might have started work on WoW2. Though i don't think it will be announced yet. If, i think they will aim a 2024 date for WoW2 to mark the 20 Year anniversary

WoW still brings in decent cash, Making WoW 2 would stagnate player base between 2 games. If they shut down the WoW we have now allot of people just won't move to the new one. (majority of players they have now are loyal, invested and stable income). I would not be keen playing a WoW 2.0 and loosing all prior achievements. If they do ever make a new MMORPG i think it would be its own game and totally different.

No, this is unlikely to ever happen.

Highly unlikely, it's basically like they say - the moment they can't do what they want to do with this one, they will move on, but Legion shows they still have a lot of stuff they can do with this one.

Benefits of making WoW2 are outweighted by dangers of ditching WoW, fracturing playerbase and delivering something that will be rejected by WoW players and what for?

WoW is the perfect storm. It was based on videogame lore that hooked people into it's story when it came out, it launched when MMOs were just becoming a hot new product, and it marketed itself to the widest possible fanbase through it's similarity to other unrelated properties.

But that's how it -started-. How it continued was by being the game anyone could play, and that anyone -should- play. You usually don't see people who are the only person they know playing WoW. Friends, family, friends of friends. The came is -lousy- with recommendations. The only reason I played it is because my 60 year old mother (At the time) had been playing from Vanilla through Wrath with my older brother and twin sister and finally convinced me to pick it up.

These connections, and the connections created within an active guild structure, really helped to give people a sense of community and almost family-like quality to the game.

WoW is not the finest game on the market. I honestly prefer Wildstar's combat system and SWtoR's focus on my character's personal story. And the Elder Scrolls and Dark Age of Camelot had a much better conceit for mass PvP in their territory control designs. No. WoW is the game that everyone plays. And most of us play for the Momentum of it. We've spent years playing and it's a part of our lives. So we keep playing.

Even when someone dislikes a given bit of content.

WoW 2 would undercut the hell out of that. It would destroy the momentum aspect by asking us all to start over. No more 3 million gold in your bank. All your mounts and achievements and transmog gear gone. Every pet and every toy you've found. All gone. All the old quests and dungeons and raids and environments: POOF! Gone.

There's some incentive to play the new game, but what you'd -lose- would wind up killing the attention of a massive portion of the playerbase who just aren't interested in trying to invest that much time, energy, and flat out cash in something new when they have something familiar and warm, like an old blanket.
Wow 2 could be a great thing but i guess i rather stay playing wow1 because of what this guys said its the memory the game brings thats keeping me playing

They wouldn't be changing silithus if they were making a wow 2.

I'm more inclined to believe that blizzard raises the sub fee and just changes to a smal drip feed expansion model by releasing only content patches from her on out than them actually redoing the whole damn thing.

i can see wow getting a full remake with the same story line, but adding all the retcons and giving the older boss's a new flavor and abilities, like the vanilla ones or TBC.

fixing bad expansion aspects like WoD or Cata.

but a new story? that stuff is kinda hard to start.

Hehe well i think it is quite obvious for what is on the PTR, that WoW is not hitting an end point
May the lore be great and the stories interesting. A game without a story, is a game without a soul. Value the lore and it will reward you with fun!

Don't let yourself be satisfied with what you expect and what you seem as obvious. Ask for something good, surprising and better. Your own standards ends up being other peoples standard.
